Oh dear, I just realised that we won't get a new subject until the 7th of December and I'm practically finished with my Yoxgit backstory.

Guess I'll just have to sit on it for a while...[face_tired]

I haven't even thought about the new entry yet. Because we have such a long time to write it, I'll end up waiting until Thanksgiving when I have time off from work.

I wonder how many entries we'll have before they pull it.......and if they'll ever announce the winners for the Episode II round.

I think Yoxgit will the second to last. I just hope we get the entries and winners from the AOTC round since ever since that round I felt I was on a roll with good entries and I just wanna know now what the backgrounds are.

My entry is coming up nicely, I have lots of nice little tid-bits in it aswell and I thiink I can work in Sheckil aswell since I didnt wrote the ESB part of the entry yet.

True! December 1 is a Saturday so we'll have an extra week for Yoxgit. My draft is complete. I'm letting it rest this week.

Mine is gone :) I enjoyed writing about Yoxgit. I think my story has an interesting point of view. I wonder if another member will be picked whose story hasn't been chosen yet.

I'm somewhat of a newcomer to the "What's the story?" writing but I just submitted a Yoxgit entry and I don't think its half bad. But I still can't wait to see the official Yoxgit entry no matter whose it is.

Good to have you on board, Nieber-Gon-Jinn, though I'm afraid we won't have many What's the Story opportunities left after the new year. Still, I pray you get a win before this thing goes the way of Dodo.

This is the first entry that I've actually SKIPPED! I just look at Hog-Face (is that speciest of me?) and I don't have ANYTHING. Especially when it's like "He escaped Cloud City during the Imperial takeover and worked in Jabba's palace with an arms supplier. Then he was aboard the skiff went it blew....what's his story?" Sounds to me like they already did all the work :D

I'm not near as clever (or well-versed in WEG) as most of you on here to use that basic outline as an opportunity to make a bunch of crazy tie-ins, so I'm just sitting this one out. I'm ready to get back in the game, though, for as long as they let us. It'll be very sad seeing WTS go, but, man, what a ride.

And at least I'll always have the Duck. [face_love]

Why thank you. I did know that they were shutting down the "story" and I wanted to get in on this entry since it was one of the last. BTW are there any plans to bring back 'Outsider?'

< Well, though I enjoyed writing Yoxgit's story, I've had the same idea for quite some candidates. Sometimes I felt they already had a decent backstory and I always hoped unnamed characters would be chosen for WTS.

The Yoxgit entry was very well done. A totally different direction and I appreciate that.

I think the new character is VERY interesting. At least, he could be anyone underneath that helmet. I'm like you guys, I've already started thinking about who it could be...

Rango Tel back from the dead? Hm...

    :D

EDIT: Does anyone have a picture of this new guy "in movie"? I can't find him/her anywhere.

About Yoxgit. Since Ugnaughts are one of my favorite aliens, I didn't like his death aboard the Sail Barge. To be honest, I'm happy the story didn't alter anything to Wam Lufba's :) But congratulations to the winner nevertheless!

Bane Malar is a decent candidate to end WTS. Though I would rather have known where we can see him in the movie. He's always been one of the 'invisible' guys in Jabba's Palace along with Attark & Rock Wart.

Here's my Yoxgit for what he's worth ;)

Yoxgit, a Rebel agent and Ufflor of the Isced clan, left Bespin immediately after the Imperial invasion. Afraid of getting arrested, Yoxgit fled to Tatooine where he set up shop in Mos Eisley as a mechanic with the help of Rebel sympathizer Momaw Nadon. A few months later, Nadon brought Yoxgit a top-secret Alliance holomessage from Airen Cracken himself.

Alliance Intelligence asked Yoxgit to infiltrate Jabba?s organization. The Heroes of Yavin had embarked on a dangerous quest to rescue Han Solo and since the Alliance couldn?t risk losing its greatest heroes, Intelligence had chosen several people to infiltrate Jabba?s Palace. Besides Yoxgit, two human males called Pucumir Thryss and Tamtel Skreej had gone undercover as well.

When Jawas stole Hermi Odle?s speeder during a trip to Mos Eisley, Yoxgit was eager to invite Jabba?s gunrunner into his workshop. In the garage, Odle noticed several crates of brand-new BD-1 Cutter Vibro-axes. Yoxgit was willing to sell the weapons to the Baragwin at a fair price. It seems that bribing those Jawas had been a good investment after all.

Odle kept visiting Yoxgit but he had no idea that the weapons, supplied by the Alliance, were connected to a remote that would cause a burnout in their power supply. Yoxgit finally joined Odle in Jabba?s Palace as his fulltime assistant to keep an eye on Odle?s rival Pote Snitkin for his new aide, Wam Lufba, had been following Hermi recently.

Yoxgit saw the Alliance heroes infiltrate the palace and he knew his time to intervene would come soon. Yoxgit made sure he was aboard the Khetanna when the trip to the Pit of Carkoon was arranged. When R2-D2 spilled his drinks, Yoxgit secretly activated the Vibro-axe remote that short-circuited the power of the melee weapons.

Yoxgit wasn?t taking any chances and left the Khetanna early during the battle. When the battle was over, Pucumir Thryss, who was heading for the Alliance Fleet near Sullust, rescued Yoxgit from the burning twin suns.

New guy looks interesting. Perhaps a little too intersting, I have no idea where to go with him ;)

Still, I'm surprised that Decembers WTS subject wasn't someone from AOTC. My theory was that they would in January show us the final round of WTS consisting of those WTS subjects from last year. It's interesting to note that the page makes no mention of this being the last suject of WTS. Can this mean...? [face_praying]

Anyhoo, here's my Yoxgit entry for anyone who's interested.

As is the cultural habit of the Ughnaughts, Yoxgit had his professional life staked out for him before he was even born. Once old enough, he followed in the footsteps of his forebears and became a security technician at the casino Holiday Towers in Cloud City, installing and upgrading the security and surveillance systems in the casino. Yoxgit was technically gifted enough that he became an overseer of the technical team and worked closely together with the casino manager, Dynan Conea.

When the Empire seized Cloud City, Conea, Yoxgit and the technical team managed to rewire the security system which resulted in the death of many stormtroopers as they tried to break into the casino. It covered the escape of most of the clients and personnel, but Conea wanted to be evacuated last and was killed as the stormtroopers broke through. Yoxgit was one of the last to see him alive. The Holiday Towers personnel were evacuated to Tatooine where the owner of the casino, Jabba the Hutt, wanted a report. The crime lord was impressed by Yoxgit?s actions and made him the Palace security technician alongside the Baragwin Hermi Odle.

However, Yoxgit was not treated as an equal and Odle used him for many menial tasks, such as securing weapon transports from Mos Eisley, fully aware that Yoxgit was a fugitive of the Empire. Yoxgit was also used as a spy in the ongoing feud between Odle and Pote Snitkin, often having to crawl through the moist and slimy tunnels under the Palace as he tracked the Skrilling.

Yoxgit joined the execution party out to the pit of Carkoon and escaped the Khetanna?s destruction by jumping off the barge at the first sign of trouble. But he was far from any settlement and collapsed on the dunes. It was there he was discovered by the elderly moisture farmer Efraim Soswan and whilst being nursed back to health, Yoxgit heard about the Empire?s defeat at Endor and the liberation of Bespin. Once Yoxgit recovered, Soswan bought him passage on a ship to Bespin.

Well here's mine. First try and I think I did pretty well...I hope. [face_laugh]
    JN

Yoxgit had the valuable experience of working as a senior weapons designer and munitions project manager with SoroSuub Corporation in tangent with the tibanna mines on Bespin. Developing ship-to-ship blaster cannons he soon began creating armaments for rebel operatives. After narrowly escaping the hostile Imperial take over of Cloud City Yoxgit and his family held out on Sullust. While continuing to develop weaponry but fearing for his life, Yoxgit was approached by the hunchbacked Hermi Odle with a business proposition: work for Jabba the Hutt or his rebel connections would be exposed. Choosing to spare his family Yoxgit accompanied the Baragwin back to Tatooine.

Only when in the caverns of Jabba?s estate did Yoxgit realize what he had joined. Forced to laboriously rebuild and refit the weapons systems on Jabba?s sail barges and spaceships, Yoxgit dreampt of nothing but escape for the one long grueling year of his incarceration.

Yoxgit was present when Luke Skywalker destroyed the Rancor and looked on in glee, hoping that this would mark the end of his imprisonment. To his dismay it only led to the capture and death sentence for Skywalker and his companions.
In the hubbub to board the Khetanna and reach the Great Pit of Carkoon, the lone Ugnaught escaped through the catacombs to freedom. Forced to hotwire a skiff and flee to the nearest Jawa Sandcrawler, he holed out for the two month journey to Mos Espa. Upon reaching the spaceport he managed to haggle passage to Sullust on an Action VI Transport. After reuniting with his family Yoxgit was reinstated in his position and eventually went on to become a weapons adviser to the New Republic.

I have a nice few things in mind for this new character that makes it a candidate that I am looking forward to to write.

I wasnt impressed with this winning entry however. Here is mine Yoxgit entry:

Yoxgit grew up in the swamps of Ugnorgrad and he always dreamt of working in Cloud City which floated above him in the sky. When he came of age both Yoxgit and his twin brother wanted to follow in their fathers footsteps as representative of the Isced tribe. As is custom when there are more who want the job, a blood duel is required. Yoxgit fought like a Nexu and earned the job by killing his twin. He wore the scars on his left arm and under his right eye as an honor to his lost brother. With the same fighting spirit and the typical humor of his tribe Yoxgit became successful at his job.

The Clone Wars was a turning point for Yoxgit. He was on a business trip to Gentes when General Grievous invaded the planet and took the Ugnaught population prisoners. Yoxgit was being transported to the droid factories when he was rescued on Yorn Skot by the Ugnaught Jedi Treetower. His experience in captivity made Yoxgit interested in weapon technology and security. He also became a strong supporter for the Jedi and seeing his savior getting killed by Clonetroopers a year later made Yoxgit hate and distrust the new Empire.

But life quietened down and he was happy living in the neutral Cloud City far away from Imperial life and Palpatine?s stormtroopers. One day while enjoying a stroll through the city, Yoxgit was surprised to hear the message from the Baron Administrator about the Empire seizing the city. After this Yoxgit saw a group of people running away and exchanging shots with stormtroopers. Yoxgit fled to the nearest ship that could take him away.

Landing on Tatooine Yoxgit met Hermi Odle. Their passion for weapons made them friends and Yoxgit found himself working for Jabba the Hutt. Always longing to return to his beloved Cloud City and Ugnorgrad he worked hard and kept quiet in the palace. He was onboard the sailbarge before it exploded, but was able to escape with Odle. They were able to steal a ship from Jabba and Yoxgit was brought home at last.

Disappointing final subject...provided it is the final subject.

    Here's my Yoxgit:

Born on Gal Milnor in the midst of the Clone Wars, Yoxgit Hught suffered under the heel of the CIS as a mere infant. Taken to Gentes to be seen by relatives, the Hught family were caught up in General Grievous? devastating strike on the world, and were taken as slaves. Under the custody of CIS slaver Esclavo Neg, baby Yoxgit and the other Ugnaughts were shipped to Yorn Skot. There, they all suffered terrible injustices from Neg, who whipped and beat the Ugnaughts with great prejudice. Yoxgit was terribly deformed following the ordeal. Thankfully, the group was saved by Jedi Master Treetower and RC-2319.

With Gal Milnor under heavy CIS attack, the Hughts were left homeless. They attempted to immigrate to Coruscant, but Tannon Praji?s reforms proved that to be a futile effort. Luckily, Ars Fivvle of Bespin put out a call to all Gentes refugees over the HoloNet, offering them a home at the Bespinian city of Ugnorgrad. There the Hughts settled in, and Yoxgit found work at the nearby Cloud City as a tibanna gas miner. Eventually, he moved to Cloud City for convenience.

When Stormtroopers of the 501st Legion bore down on Cloud City in 3 ABY, Yoxgit joined the hordes of evacuees. He found himself on Tatooine, hoping to escape capture and arrest. He put his mining skills to good, or at least profitable, use, modifying weapons for Imperials, citizens and criminals alike. He made a name for himself in Wayfar, which attracted the attention of Hermi Odle, Jabba the Hutt?s weapon specialist. Yoxgit enjoyed his time at Jabba?s Palace ? for once he wasn?t the ugliest sentient around. When Jabba attempted to execute the Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker and his allies at the Pit of Carkoon, Yoxgit joined his court on the Khettana, but when things turned sour, he was able to escape into the Dune Sea. After days of wandering, he reached Wayfar, where he heard news that the Emperor had been killed, and the Empire in disarray. Heartened, he returned to Ugnorgrad to enjoy retirement.

Wich was what I was trying to achieve plus adding a cannon de a th to Treetower. I had it longer originally but had to cut it for length. I have saved the longer death. This was it in place of the last sentence of the paragraph about the clone wars:

When Yoxgit finished his plans for a better defense system of Gentes a year later he invited Treetower to come to Cloud City and review them. The Jedi spared what little time he had until a clonetrooper burst in the room and shot the Jedi dead. Yoxgit quickly escaped through an Ugnaught sized passageway.

I actually thought about MAKING Yoxgit into Treetower. Sort of "After the Jedi Purge, Jedi Treetower went into hiding in the mining guilds of Cloud City." Alas, I didn't.

Just finished my 2nd Bane Malar story. I like both stories for having some nice tie-ins to the movie. The 1st one is more directly involved with the movie. The 2nd one is more about Malar's background.
