Just got Geonosis and the Outer Rim worlds sourcebook. Under the Kamino entry it says that the color on ARC trooper armor has nothing whatsoevedr to do with rank. The color patterns are actually Mandalorian hunting marks called kama. Though it only mentions the blue marks, it can be assumed the red marks are also kama but they were overlooked because they are the rarer of the two. (so far we have seen red kama twice, in Clone Wars cartoon and another in HNN). This makes some sense. The Troopers with red kama might be the best of the best which explains why they're so often seen commanding the blue troopers. You might have to be extremely capable to earn the red kama.

So just to repeat, the color decorations on ARCs have NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH RANK. Geonosis and the Core worlds EXPLICITLY says this. They are Mandalorian hunting markings called KAMA.

It says the colors on regular troopers are not kama and indicate rank.

I think theoretically we could have a blue ARC commander commanding a red. Just because a red is a better hunter or has more kills, doesn't mean he has the leadership skills for command.

Ah yes, the sourcebooks that also say Saesee Tiin and Sora Bulq died on Geonosis.

    Seriously, that official word sucks!

Sora, apparently, was believed dead- which is why is appearance a few months later was a surprise to the Jedi.

I'm betting Tiin was shot down at some point during Geonosis, which lead to him being mistakeningly reported as KIA.

Ah yes, the sourcebooks that also say Saesee Tiin and Sora Bulq died on Geonosis.

According to Jedi:Mace Windu, Sora Bulq was presumed to be dead.

Hmmmm. I'd thought the "Tiin-Getting-Iced-Over-Geonosis-And-Surviving"-thing was already "officialized" by LFL. The way it's spread across the internet these last couple years or thereabouts, and all.

    Oh well.

    Either way.

Thanks Matt, good to hear that they're doing something about this little issue.

    Seriously, that official word sucks!
