Let's leave that kind of thing to Star Trek...
LOL. Is this for real? If so, PM it to me as well, please!
Alright, I admit I wasn't initially fond of this idea, but I had a stroke of (what I find to be) brilliance the other day:
Obi-Wan +Satine= Korkie (This happens during the Year on Mandalore, probably about 13-14 years before Korkie's first appearance).
Korkie is raised as Satine's "nephew" for the purpose of protecting Obi-Wan.
Then, later Korkie + Mrs. Korkie (Lagos/Soniee?)= Domhnall Gleeson
That's basically the only way I'd want this to happen
Obi-Wan would never call his son "Korkie". So uncivilized.
I don't like the idea personally. But if he does have offspring it would need to have happened after the fall of the Republic. Obi-Wan wasn't the type to break the Jedi Code. But did he still view himself as a Jedi after the fall? Or did he simply view himself as a guardian and future mentor to Luke? The entire idea is crap and would be fan pandering. If there are going to be offspring let them belong to the Skywalkers and Solos and no one else. Lets expand the universe not shrink it.
Maybe he didn't know Satine got pregnant?
According to Lucas, the Jedi Code doesn't ban "getting intimate" - only long-term attachment (marriage, parent-child family group)
Obi-Wan never knew that Korkie was his son.
Guess I forgot that part.
If Satine hid Obi-Wan's son from him and also gave him such a stupid name that just makes me hate that woman all the more.
It might be a shortening. Like "Annie" for Anakin.
That does not improve matters
Old Obi Wan died a virgin on the Death Star in ANH.
How about if she told the Jedi Council - and they sent a message back saying "Don't tell Obi-Wan because we don't want him to develop Family Attachment"?
"Well, I don't know anyone named Obi-Wan, but old Ben lives out beyond the Dune Sea. He's kind of a strange old virgin."
All that's good and legitimate if you want to get into serious analysis, my main point is just (somewhat mockingly) pointing out what a dumb name "Korkie" is
EDIT -- sorry, double post, reflex reply...
If the Council was told, they'd likely have no choice but to expel Obi-Wan. Maybe She called Qui-Gon- he would keep the secret
As I said - there's an interview somewhere where Lucas said Jedi are not required to be celibate.
EDIT: Found it:
Jackson said the example of Shaolin monks from Hong Kong kung fu movies had informed his take on a Jedi knight, with characters meditating "like most men are supposed to do in monk-like situations".
But Lucas revealed that despite their monastic regime, Jedi were permitted to have sex.
"Jedi Knights aren't celibate - the thing that is forbidden is attachments - and possessive relationships."
Genuinely made me lol
@The Hellhammer. Sometimes I imagine Vader thinking (as he foots Obi Wans robes in ANH after he vanishes) "So long B, least I got some ass mutha******"
Today I learned that the Jedi Council encourages one night stands.
Ok. Good Point. I just personally would not go to the Council, were I Sabine
So the Jedi were permitted to have sex, apparently. So where were the obsessives (I originally put roadies but it didn't sit right) hanging outside the Temple hoping a good looking Jedi would take them as their 'regular Saturday night thing'? It's obviously an afterthought by Lucas when he was questioned about the monk like demeanour of the Jedi in the PT. 'A Jedi must have the most serious mind' Yoda once said. But meaningless sex is ok
And bastard children. So the Jedi say it's okay to have casual sex, sire a brat, and then leave. because you know raising your own child would be a little too possessive.
Guess that technically they can raise their own child... as long as they don't really love it
Obi-Wan had a one night stand with Satine who had a son she named Korkemos Bartholemew, who she nicknamed Korkie. He grew up, got married and had a daughter named Satine who will be played by Gwendoline Christie.
"Allowing" sexual relationships =/= "encouraging."
Nor does it mean, if it happens, a "one night stand." More than likely, for those Jedi who take advantage of the "lack of a ban" it's more like a "friends with benefits" and possibly another Jedi - someone who understands a sexual relationship does not mean a romantic relationship.
