So apparently, the NYCC badges have RFID tags this year to cut down on counterfeiting. What they didn't tell people, was that if they linked their badges to their social media accounts that ReedPop would hijack them and publish tweets under their name, including their own guests.

Look, I get that there are apps out there that do the same, but they actually state up front that by accepting yada yada yada that you give them permission to post. No such luck with the badges, as far as anyone has seen.

I think what he's trying to say is that ReedPop is the Facebook of New York Comic Con.

 

I keep reading it as RedPoop.

ReedPop has apologised for being overly enthusiastic, and have ended the program. Also, early reports that there was no opt-in have been proven false, as people report that they were, in fact, told what linking the badge to their social feeds would entail, and therefore the people pissed that their accounts were used to whore the con have no right to be pissed except at themselves.
