The first time I saw Star Wars A New Hope was when it first ran on HBO. Long before the VHS editions were released. I think this would have been the original theatrical version. I have a memory from that movie that I think is wrong. I think I just invented this in my imagination somehow. I remember Leia saying the line "Oh, you beast" to Vader right after her planet was destroyed. She said it badly, like she was reading it from a cue card for the very first time. I recently downloaded the restored original theatrical release that was posted by a group of fans. And that line is not there. So, does anyone else remember this line?
We tend to fabricate the strangest memories of these things. A few years ago, I swore up and down Vader threw his lightsaber at Obi-Wan at some point in ANH. I was likely mixing it up with when he does in ROTJ, but the image in my head is so vivid
No, but there is a deleted scene in which Leia says "And you call yourselves human" just after Alderaan is destroyed. The deleted scene can be found on YouTube.
She never said that. The only line she directed to Vader was something like, "Lord Vader, only you can be so bold. The senate will not sit still for this, when they hear you've attacked a diplomatic-" and then Vader cuts her off.
I remember this, but not the "Oh you beast!" line. That sounds too painful and unnatural, even for GL's writing. If it does exist somewhere though, I would love to see it for sure.
she refers to them as "twisted creatures" in the radio drama , curiously in the novel the destruction of Alderaan happens 'off-screen' I believe . .
