Homo sapiens

Species names are always italicised in print. The generic name (first part) always starts with a capital letter and the specific epithet (last part) with a lower case letter. The "s" on the end of sapiens is there because it is part of the name. It is not indicative of the plural, hence the singular is still Homo sapiens.
