Okay, when I first heard the title "Attack of the Clones" I was like, "Whatever, sounds cool." And then I saw the movie, (5 times!) and I leave each time thinking, "Um, okay, is that ALL the clones attack?" So, the title is good, but it doesn't seem to fit what occurred in the film. I mean, the clones' attack was far late, and ended too quickly, in my opinion. When you see Yoda in the trailers saying, "Begun this clone war has," you would think the movie is just that, about a clone war. But to me, it was a prelude to the clone war, the first steps into the path that will lead to a clone war.

Something more like, "Enter the Clones" or "Birth of the Clones" makes more sense, but they sound even more corny. So for now, "Attack of the Clones" is satisfactory, especially since the title can't and won't be changed anyway. Just my two cents...

Actually, I don't care about the title, but after seeing the movie, to me, it should have most definetly been called:

    Star Wars
    Episode II
    The Cloning Conspiracy

Because, well, the clones don't attack the whole movie, just at the end. Sure the title as it is now fits, but I just thought of the cloning plot as more of a mystery.

Actually, I was so busy trying to get over the scar from "Revenge of the Jedi" being changed to "Return of the Jedi" that I really didn't even notice EPII's title. :p

You mean it's "Return of the Jedi" now? When did this happen?

I didn't like the title at first, but it's grown on me. And TPM was actually a pretty cool title, IMO.

Remember the end of the movie when the Jedi were surrounded by the battle droids, adn suddenly the Clone army appeared and 'attacked' the droids, turning the tide of the battle and saving the day?

I think that probably has something to do with the title.

    :p

    AOTC fits quite well.

The titles so far always had a double meaning, refering both to a person and a broader, general element/action, which always happens / becomes obvious towards the end of the movie:

    - A new hope
    Person: Luke
General: victory = new hope for the rebellion

    - Empire strikes back
    Person: Vader (end duell)
    General: victory for the Empire

    - Return of the Jedi
Person: Vader (return to the light side)
General: Dark side eliminated - way paved for future Jedi

    - Phantom Menace
Person: Sidious (noone has seen him, knows his name, knows who he is)
General: invisible Menace for the Republic / the Jedi

    - Attack of the clones
    Person(s): Jango/Boba (attacking Obi-Wan)
General: clone army attack on Geonosis

Furthermore, the title is essential for AOTC biggest plot twist - that the clonetroopers are (yet) the good guys

Little off topic, but if I'm right, the EP3 title would refer to:
    Person: Vader
General: defeat & annihilation of the Jedi

    My idea:
    - Revenge of the Sith
Person: Vader could take revenge for something (he believes) the Jedi did to him
General: the Sith take revenge on the Jedi (quote Darth Maul from TPM).

OK back to topic, after seeing it, I couldn't think of a better title for AOTC.

LoL sarcasm is great! and yeah, the clones did technically 'attack' the droids, thus helping the jedi win. but still, this seems more like aiding. "Aid of the Clones." hehe...

Episode II: Lame Attempt at Flaming by the Newbie Bashers.

The title (and the movie) are perfect....a perfect Star Wars movie, that is.

Oh, and skillmatic, you aren't the only one. Trust me.

Maybe you, Brodie, Binary Sunset, and about 2 other people.......out of 70,000.

This thread = OK, this was a bit inappropriate.

AOTC a corny title? Yeah, a bit. But I can give you two examples of SW titles that are just as corny (if not even more) as AOTC:

    The Empire Strikes Back

    Star Wars

If we got used to those two, then we should get used to AOTC, too, don't you think?

Doesn't really bother me. I mean, after 'The Phantom Menace' you really have to expect this sort of thing.

Episode 3: Fellowship of the Sith! (where the fellowship isn't exactly for the Sith but against it...it's the twist!)

"Episode 3: Fellowship of the Sith" [face_laugh]

Why not? Episode 3: The two siths or

Episode 3: The Return of the Sith

    wait!

    that's actually possible ;)

if we're going to guess the title of Episode 3 we're in the wrong thread, but do remember that the title should 4 words long.

A new Hope = The Phantom Menace (3 words)
The Empire Strikes Back = Attack of the Clones (4 words)
    Return of the Jedi = ? ? ? ? (again 4 words)

I think AOTC is a great title.

BUT, another good one would be "Divine Secrets of the Jedi Sith-sterhood"

I never really liked the title "Attack of the Clones", because it just doesn't seem to fit with the film in my mind...not like ESB or TPM did. I don't know why, I guess I'm just weird. But I'm not Lucas and can't change it, so why gripe about it? I just call it Episode II instead and that works fine.

So if George Lucas had decided to call it "Episode II: The Clone Wars", would everyone be bashing him for not calling it "Attack of the Clones"?

Ah, the classic basher argument. "You liked something I didn't, therefore you must be blindly following Lucas."
    Now for my counterargument:
    1. "The Clone Wars" is a boring name, far too boring for Star Wars and far less descriptive of the actual movie than "Attack of the Clones".
    2. If it had been named "The Clone Wars" instead of "Attack of the Clones" then we never would've even heard that title at all. Which makes this question irrelevant.

    New title: "Die, Jedi, Die"

"Isn't that a bit explicit for a movie title?"

"It's German, it translates to The, Jedi, The."
