Old japanese kids movie with R2-D2

I`ve seen it around 1994 on TV.
I can remember the title. I don`t even know If Lucas allowed Japan to make
that movie.
It played on earth and R2 gets a kid`s friend. R5 had a role as R2`s friend.
It was from the late 80s and early 90s,
I guess.
I am sure it was R2.

Any clues?

Not sure how to help, Billy Dee. I don't think anybody knows what movie you're talking about. R2 was in it, as well as R5? Doubtful, very doubtful. They had to have been completely different robots.

 

Was it dubbed or something? I can't think of anything familar like that. Was it a parody of SW or serious?

 

No, it was a kids movie.
It played on earth. R2 was a childs best friend. R2 was in danger ´cause someone wanted to destroy him.
At the end of the movie the bad guy ( a normal businessman ) was surounded
by R2, R5 and tons of toy robots on a japanese toy fair.

I know it sounds strange but I am sure
it was R2-D2 and R5-D4.
I can`t remember the kid ever calling his name but I´m sure it was him.

I'm usually good at remembering schlock t.v, but I don't remember anything like what you're describing. The only live-action SW related t.v. stuff I remember are the horrible Ewok movies and the Holiday Special, and Mark Hamill's hilarious appearance on "The Muppet Show" that's it. "Who's your tailor?"

I think I would've caught anything on t.v. involving R2 and 3P0. Do have any idea what the title of this thing was even like? Any famous actors in it, that you could possibly do a web search and find out info on it as a result? Wish I could help, but I've never hear of such a show.
