Events Olympic Dueling Thread: 2016 EUC/SWC Olympics Medals Awarded!

Again the results scrolled across the Mandalorian's HUD. Interesting, very interesting.

"Mando'ade and aruetiise, we have a victor and our Gold and bronze Medal matches are set." He paused for dramatic effect, looking to both combatants though his darkened T-Visor. "In another split decision the winner of this match is...Moonspun Dragon!" He lifted her arm up high over the their heads. "Moonspun Dragon will be combating the victor of our first match, The Vanguard for the Gold Medal. But first we will have the Bronze Medal match between Lady Belligerant and Mikaboshi!" He waited for the two bronze Medal contestants to take their place on the arena floor. "The floor is yours, you may start at your convenience."

The Gold Medal Round (to be fought after the conclusion of the Bronze Medal round): The Vanguard vs. Moonspun Dragon

The Bronze Medal Round (starting now): Lady Belligerent vs. Mikaboshi

 

Bronze Medal Round

Mikaboshi, the grey clad swordsman, bowed reverently toward the Dark Lady and Triumvir of the Sith.

"M'Lady" He said with a polite nod, "It is an honor." His right hand gripped his lightsaber casually as the hiss of his purple blade filled the arena, he was prepared as he ever would be.

He was anxious, as always before a fight, taking a deep breathe in he held it for a few moments then slowly let it go. Feeling more relaxed he allowed the Force to flow through him, instantly he felt it's power. He enjoyed it, maybe a bit too much, but how could he not? He doubted that even the Jedi could honestly say that they didn't find it's power exhilarating, of course they would never admit it.

A Sith would, in that at least they were honest.

Deciding that he had mused enough he began to pace forward, slowly, his steps short and balanced. His lightsaber slowly came up to center, both hands now grasped the hilt as he continued to move towards the Sith. He showed no other aggression, it was not his way.

His brow furrowed a bit as he realized that the Sith would not play into his preferences, so it must be him to initiate the contest.

So be it.

With a wink and a grin he lunged forward, his lead foot shuffling forward and his trail leg providing support. The blade of his saber whirled quickly, leaving a soft purple glow, after a quick upward back-draw he sliced downward at an angle from the Lady's right to left side.

As soon as he finished his full strike he intended to shuffle backward again in preparation for any retaliation.

Mikaboshi neither shifted or stopped, he leapt clear over the Dark Lady's head and after a 180 degree rotation landed facing her back. His landing and footwork precise, and he was already prepared for his own counterattack.

His blade swept horizontally at Bellorum's midsection, seeking to earn the fist hit of the engagement.

The Dark Lady's foot drove hard into the crotch of Mikaboshi, "I'm a girl," she smiled, "we fight dirty." Instead of striking the grey clad swordsman's tenders however, her foot struck a hard metal groin protector that lay concealed under his clothing.

He chuckled, amused at the effort. "I'm a man," he smiled, "we know."

His smile faded as he resumed the contest. His purple blade flicked forward toward her shoulder, seeking to slap her arm and deliver a stinging blow. Very little of his strength was committed to the fight, he struck with finesse and speed.

As always he was prepared to adjust as needed and resume a defensive posture, his masterful control over body and blade was a result of decades of dedication to the art of swordsmanship.

Mikaboshi's own blade came back quickly to parry Lady Belligerent's attack, the two lightsabers sparked and hissed in protest.

He watched his adversary as he cautiously moved back a few steps, his lightsaber still guarding the divide between the two, after reaching a relatively safe distance he deactivated his blade. Though he didn't place it back on his belt, he did stand at ease.

He nodded cheerfully towards the Dark Lady, it was an honor to have crossed blades the the Triumvir.

The Mandalorian stepped in as the combatants extinguished their blades. This had been a match worthy of the Bronze medal. Now it was up to the judges to determine who was more worthy of that particular honor.

 

Once again the scores for the match appeared on the Mandalorian's HUD. "Mando'ade and aruetiise, we have our victor and Bronze medal winner!" He took his place between the two participants before raisning one of their hand in victory. "In a unanimous decision, that victor and your Bronze Medal winner for the EUC/SWC Olympic Dueling tournament is...Lady Beligerent!" He waited a moment for the cheering and applause to die down before continuing on. "Lady Belligerent your medal will be awarded to you during the medal ceremony following the Gold Medal match." He ushered the two combatants off the stage before calling forward to two who would spar for the Gold Medal.

"Now, I present to you The Vanguard and Moonspun Dragon who will fight for honor and glory...and Gold." He stepped out of their way. "You may begin at your convenience."

After watching a great duel between the Lady Sith and the Gray Warrior, The Vanguard arose and answered his summons. Upon entering the square he tossed aside his outer robes. He closed his eyes, emptying his mind and calling on the Force to enhance his judgment and reflex. This was it.

He waited there for his opponent to arrive, his cobalt hilted lightsaber still clipped to his belt. He had heard of her ferocity and was looking forward to see it up close.

Moonspun stood across from The Vangaurd. She knew he was a strong Jedi and was slightly more guarded. As a result, her expression was serious.

However, when she met her opponent's gaze, her expression melted into a friendly grin. Her posture relaxed into a defensive stance. She unclipped her lightsaber, but left it unignited. "Hey, Van. 'Sup?"

He peered at the woman before him, just a few steps away. Her golden eyes lit with a fiery gaze suddenly transformed into a curiously warm and friendly portrait.
"Hey, Van. 'Sup?" she greeted him with her silent lightsaber in hand.

He held back his immediate reaction which was to stroll over to Moonspun Dragon and offer a fist bump. He knew better than to relax and trust a Sith.
Remaining guarded but feeling lively, he readied his combat stance while calling his lightsaber to his already stretched out hand, as if he were offering something.

*Snap-hiss,* his blue lightsaber shot to life.

He met hers with a cordial nod, "Greetings Moon. May I have this dance?"

"Greetings Moon. May I have this dance?"

Moonspun grinned. "Of course you may, Van."

She ignited her blood red saber as well and leapt toward her opponent, moving her saber in a cleaving strike at his head. "What do you think about using dead spiders as a type of lava lamp?"

With both feet on the ground, Moonspun slashed sideways at Van's stomach. "I think it'll be pretty."

Moonspun Dragon leapt swiftly into the air, her blood red saber following close behind. She came down on The Vanguard like a bolt of lightning, cleaving at him square above his head. He retreated his position a half-step back and threw his arms up, deflecting her attack.

"What do you think about using dead spiders as a type of lava lamp?"
He shuddered at the thought. Nothing gave him more disdain than a wandering arachnid.
"I prefer canned lighting over lamps."

From a planted position she slashed across his body.
"I think it'll be pretty."
He parried perpendicularly to her strike. Continuing the beat he quickly responded with a one handed thrust at her mid-section.
"Pretty ugly."
He followed the lunge with a two handed diagonal cut as he closed the gap toward his opponent.

Moonspun quickly sidestepped the thrust, then leapt back a few steps to avoid the diagonal strike.

She shrugged. "It'd be a pretty sight with glitter."

Taking advantage of her opponent's closer range, she dropped to a crouch and did a sweep kick. She followed it up with viciously slashing her blade up as her opponent potentially fell, rising as she did so.

"You can place it on the table and watch the patterns." She grinned.

After dodging the stab, Moonspun Dragon evaded his follow-up attack.
"It'd be a pretty sight with glitter."
He raised an eyebrow in response, trying to keep his focus on the here and now.

For a moment, the distraction worked as glittery spiders frolicked in his mind. Suddenly, out of no where her brisk sweeping kick caught The Vanguard's calf, causing his balance to be overthrown. With the same suddenness of her low corps-a-corps maneuver, The Vanguard channeled the force into a rapid response.
As his body rotated he tucked in his legs into a flip while bending a defensive curl with his lightsaber in a counter-clockwise motion that connected, warding off her slash. Within a blink he extended his legs again to land in a squatting-like position with one leg pointed out.

"You can place it on the table and watch the patterns."

"Or just place it in the garbage."

He rose up again, finally cracking a small grin - lightsaber at the ready.

Moonspun raised an eyebrow. "I don't think it deserves to be in the garbage." She slowly rotated her red blade once and tillted her head to the side. "It's not like I suggested it be made put of human." she paused momentarily, pursing her lips in thought. "Though that would be an interesting sight..."

She stood a moment as if in thought, then, abruptly, attacked in a series of vicious slashes and stabs aimed at her opponent's middle.

"Or is a human lava lamp more towards your liking?" she asked, grinning maliciously.

'Your right.' he thought to himself, 'it deserves incineration.'

She stood relaxed again, "It's not like I suggested it be made put of human."
She explored the thought further, "Though that would be an interesting sight..."
This time he ignored the horrific imagery.

Abruptly, Moonspun Dragon blitzed a using a barrage of brutal attacks at The Vanguard's center mass.
Going swiftly on the defensive, he was barely able to match her pace but with the Force supporting his reflexes, he successfully parried until he was backed up against the wall. Sensing it's proximity, he force jumped backwards and used the wall to launch himself clear above her, but close enough in range to aim a cut straight for her head - hoping to land an aerial attack before landing behind her.

Moonspun followed his arc with her eyes, then rolled out of the way of his strike. When he landed, she swung her blade out toward his neck....

.... But stopped an inch away.

She held this position for a second, then moved the blade away, deactivating it as well.

She stepped back and bowed slightly from the waist. "I can't believe you don't like my interior decorating ideas. Seriously, a glittery lava lamp made out of either spider or human hide would look lovely." She grinned.
