Buff, NY Once Upon a Con - May 16 & 17

We have been contacted to appear at a con taking place at the Central Terminal in May. The request includes costumed appearances and potentially a workshop or demonstration. More details to follow. This is in the preliminary stages.

 

I'm in for the entire weekend barring any unforeseen circumstances. I will present more details at the meeting.

 

Please mark me as tentative. I would love to make it at least one of the two days. I will not know my work schedule until the week before.

 

I'll know when we're closer to the date and I get my work schedule.

 

I'm in for at least one if not both.

 

Depending on the times on each day I could be in for both days but definitely Sunday.

 

TImes are:
SAT arrive 10-11, Doors Open 12-7pm
SUN arrive 11a - Doors open 12-5

Please let me know ASAP if you would like to host a panel or worship so our contact can add to the schedule.

 

I can do Sunday all day. Saturday, I could participate 3 - 7. I'd enjoy hosting a panel on lightsaber combat as well as doing a demo of lightsaber theoretical training discipline and sparring. Maybe 4pm on Saturday for 1.5 hours? I'm open to suggestions on those details. I have no desire to lead worship on either day but again I would be happy to do a workshop on Jedi fighting skills for stage performance on Sunday.

Thanks Bill! I will contact John and see what time frame he has available for a WORKSHOP.

 

Oh, and I'm not sure what space we will have for photo ops, but I know the North Ridge X-wing cockpit set will be complete by the end of April. Perhaps we could bring it to the con?

 

They are being VERY accommodating. We could certainly make that happen if it can be transported there. Do we have a backdrop?

 

That's a great point! The set is being built with the idea of green screen backdrop; we would likely need a star scape back drop for such events... including Bisons SWN come to think of it. Who usually gets our backdrops?

I do have a role of star scape wall paper I was going to use to decorate a room but that was an idea long time ago. So worse case scenario we can use that if need be.

 

You can do what they used in the movie - black sheet with holes in it and a light-source illuminating it from behind. Not sure how that would look in-person, but it's a start.

UPDATE: The CTRC has scaled back the event to one day, Saturday May 16..

 

The weekend after I move into my new house, I'm going to have to decline.

 

One or both of us will be there on Saturday.

 

The trio will possibly be there.

 

I'm in for definitely Sunday, Saturday maybe

 

I can do Saturday the whole time. I'll come in and do "Stormie" as primary; Jedi as backup when my knees start barking at me.

Peter Jr. said he could do it but I will let him speak for himself (since he's almost 18 now).

 

I'm a possible for this. I need to check my schedule for those days. If I can make it, Bill, I'd love to help out with the lightsaber panel.
