i think it was me. i had a few arguments, but my trump card was photographic evidence of the same children present at bilbo's party and sam's wedding (played by pj's real life kids i believe).

    Dammit!

Unless... the child actors were portraying their own younger siblings in the later scenes. [face_tee_hee]

True but I think since the line of the tolkien family is getting to take christoper tolkiens spot we may actually have more of continuation of tolkien movies. I mean lucas did say Star Wars is done no sequel trilogy and now look whats happening.

No harry potter anymore I also doubt that too.

Now that I've watched this film on home video I like it a bit more and would put it roughly on par with the others.

Happy birthday to our favourite wizard, Ian McKellen. I hope they planned something special for him on set today.

    Cheers,
    Lauré :)

What if I like Radagast better?
    Or Sauruman?
    Or the blue wizards?
    Or Dumbledore?

No one likes the Blue Wizards. Gandalf can't even remember their names!

I should present you to Tom, William and Bert. Why, it would almost be like a family reunion, wouldn't it?

    Cheers,

    That's...actually, rather good. :p
I might just shamelessly steal that one.

But still, you did speak for all of us. Maybe I do prefer other wizards.

    Only for rights reasons.
And that Tolkien chose two different sets, I suppose.

Whenever I hear the name Pallando, I think of the song Fernando. Then I just start replacing the lyrics.

Can you hear the drums (in the deep) Pallando?
I remember long ago a starry night like this
    [IMG]
Near the five fir trees Pallando
You were talking to an Elf and softly walking very far
I could hear the distant drums
And sounds of Goblins calling "come out Alatar!"

    They were closer now Pallando
Everyday was a life age that lasted an eternity
    I was so afraid Pallando
We were old but full of life and weren't prepared to die
And I'm not ashamed to say
The roar of Orcs and Goblins almost made me cry

There was something in the weed that night
    Saruman was white, Pallando
He was coming east for you and me
    We were not free, Pallando
Though I never thought that we could lose
    There's no Hobbit
If I had to do the same again
    I would, my friend, Pallando

Now where's Gandalf the grey, Pallando?
And since many years I haven't seen a staff, were they banned?
Can you hear the drums (in the deep) Pallando?
Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed Mordor hand in hand?
    Despite the great big eye
How proud you were to fight for freedom in Saurons land

There was something in the weed that night
    Saruman was white, Pallando
He was coming east for you and me
    We were not free, Pallando
Though I never thought that we could lose
    There's no Hobbit
If I had to do the same again
    I would, my friend, Pallando

There was something in the weed that night
    Saruman was white, Pallando
He was coming east for you and me
    We were not free, Pallando
Though I never thought that we could lose
    There's no Hobbit
If I had to do the same again
    I would, my friend, Pallando
Yes, if I had to do the same again
    I would, my friend, Pallando

halibut needs to fly to Wellington, stand in that room, have his photograph taken, fly back to the UK and post the picture on the JCC. In response, I shall post (a well-earned) "lol".

An interesting and non-partisan book-to-screen comparison. I like how they don't reject PJ's modifications out of hand and how they come up with explanations and hypotheses regarding the future films. All I can say is that it only whets my appetite for the next installment.

    Cheers,
    Lauré :)

Interesting. I've only ever heard of the first pair. When does he mention the others? The Letters?
