lols, I think Bilbo will put the ring on after a terrible argument with Thorin. Sauron will find Bilbo in the ring void, and Bilbo will do a tap dance routine for him, distracting Sauron just at the moment the White Council counterattacks at Dol Guldur, thus setting in motion the dark lord's flight to Mordor.

 

Well, the rumor is that if you put all three Blu Ray releases in a video editor, you'll be able to see an adaptation of The Hobbit.

 

So for that video, are the new shots from the Blu-ray actually being compared to the trailer itself (which is what it says), or to the finished theatrical film? I don't recall that this much stuff changed from the trailer to the theatrical release (even though that's true that studios often do separate effects preparation for some parts of trailers in order to get them out ahead of time).

Either way, a lot of these changes don't seem necessary, IMO.

 

Well, the AUJ Blu-Ray changed Smaug's design from the Theatrical...

 

I love the quirkiness of FOTR's nonconforming Gollum design. I hope Jackson doesn't go back and change that for future video releases.

Some of those changes were made even before the movie was released. That definitely wasn't Azog who attacked them during the barrel chase when I watched the movies, he had sent his son Bolg to finish the mission by that point.

 

So was the theatrical version

Probably was originally gonna be Azog before the 3 film split.

 

...The three-film split happened before any DOS trailers.

And I meant in the Extended Blu-ray release, which is why I differentiated from the theatrical...

 

Oh, then yea, Smaug's design was changed from 4 legs to 2 legs and 2 forearms

 

Which seems like a pretty major change to make that late in the game. If I recall correctly, the art for Smaug in the books, etc. also always had him as a four-legged dragon, not the two-legged kind that had claws on the front of their wings like he is now. Wonder why they changed him, and why so late.

 

Good thing he is probably the best or second-best CG creature.
