I loved the whirling barrel of death. It made me laugh out loud.
The real sin is having Azog be alive chasing the dwarves across Middle-earth. The ridiculous awesomeness of the barrel fight is, in my opinion, making lemons into lemonade.

 

I hate that Bombur is mute.

Tauriel's role was originally going to be given to Saoirse Ronan? WOW.

 

She's much too young.

 

She turned it down because she didn't want to spend so much time on one film.

But really, she's much more gorgeous than Lily.

I think it's a wrong decision to turn down the offer, too.
She played fine in that movie, I went to see the movie because of Diane Kruger but Ronan was really pretty and performed well.

Just picked up my Blu Ray copy of TDOS

 

I'm waiting until the series is doen to see what they come up with boxed-set wise.

Question about the LOTR blu-rays: Back when the boxed set first came out on regular DVD, the extended edition disks had some kind of feature that allowed you to watch the theatrical version as well. Is that feature included in the Blu-Ray EE boxed set that's currently available? I love the EEs for the most part, but sometimes don't want to watch the whole thing.

 

Well my Blu Ray box set of the EE of LOTR doesn't come with the feature to play the theatrical, don't think it exists on Blu Ray

 

I did not know that.

 

I believe it's called "branching". It wasn't available on the original EE DVDs (which is what I have), IIRC it was added for the first boxed set EE DVDs that came out later. I haven't seen it mentioned for the sets that are available now.

 

So Peter Jackson is jamming in one more character that doesn't belong for the Extended Edition of The Desecration of Smug.
Can't wait to see if he jams King Kong in There and Never Come Back Again.
