Great scene. It's stuff like that that still make me angry about how the army of the dead basically renders these heroics and sacrifices null.

And, as that clip is subtitled, now I know they're all yelling "Death!" (as opposed to just a battle cry/yell)- which makes it all even worse.

    "Death!"
    "Death!"
"Wait a second guys (and hidden gal)! If we wait, like, 30 minutes, Aragorn and the Green Walkers have got this! We can all go home! No death!"
    "No death!"
    "No death!"
    "I love horsies!"
    "No death!"

    Why? Cause it features Arwen?

The Flight to the Ford is the worst part of Jackson's Fellowship of the Ring.

It chills me everytime. I've never seen a princess being so strong and brave before or after. Thanks to Peter Jackson and Liv Tyler, we got this Arwen rather than the vague background character in the book.

    Either Sam's speech in TTT:

    Or Sauron Destroyed:

Him and Elrond got more fighting in the scene with the Ringwraiths.
Nah Tauriel was way worse than both IMHO

The whole Helm's Deep Battle from the beginning to the end was superb for me. Perhaps my favorite of all of the movies to date.

The Two Towers was my favorite of the trilogy- it was the most humanizing and dramatic, IMO. Fellowship has grown on me over the years but most of my issues with ROTK stem from how it does, or does not, pay off a few threads and themes from TTT satisfactorily (even though I still enjoy the film).

I also rather liked the EE version (except for the multiple, redundant "all our hopes lie with two Hobbits out there in the world"-type comments added in).

For some reason I've always considered TTT to be the weakest installment. But I do like the Helm's Deep sequence, and also the scenes with the ents. I can't remember whether it was Merry or Pippin, but one of them made a very stirring speech to the other one and to the ents about why taking no action is just not right sometimes.

Fav scene? So hard to answer those types of questions, but I think the best way to do so is to say whatever comes to mind immediately.

    So I'll just say this:

    "You bow to no one."

I love the rise in the music as Aragorn and Frodo jump.

I also love the bit in The Two Towers, when we first see Barad-Dur, and then the build-up of the armies in Isengard.

I've always liked the Mouth of Sauron, although he was way more effective in the book. He's a bit pointless in the film version unfortunately, but that couldn't be helped with the way it was structured.

in the book you don't know what frodo and sam are up to at that point so revealing the mithril shirt is a lot more effective. also gandalf has a cool moment when he reclaims the shirt, but no one cuts the guy's head off.

When he shows up in the books you haven't seen hide nor hair of Frodo and Sam since the ominous end of Book IV, "Frodo was alive but taken by the enemy." (That Shelob stuff actually happens in The Two Towers). Then The Mouth presents the mithril shirt and what have you, saying they were given to him by "a spy." There's a palpable tension to the proceedings as you don't know any more than the protagonists do whether or not he's telling the truth, to what extent he's telling the truth, etc. In the film, where you're consistently intercutting between both major plot lines he's never going to be as effective, so they just have Aragorn cut his head off as a big "**** you" in the face of the overwhelming odds, rather than having Gandalf engage in potential negotiations with the very real possibility of total failure lingering over the quest.

Basically, the Mouth dies for the same reason Tom Bombadil never shows up and Saruman never scours the Shire - some stuff just doesn't work in a film.

    Edit: Bah, ninja'd.
