Considering Sir Pete wanted to do a new two-hour doc for each film and finally include all deleted scenes and gags just makes this "Ultimate" release that much more annoying. I guess we'll have to wait for a regime change at Warner Bros and/or the 25th Anniversary.

 

They're the worst, and especially egregious as the previous releases all had proper keepcases and hubs. Like, you're looking to charge $600 for this stupid thing, at least invest in some ****ing plastic.

 

Forget plastic, those cases and hubs should be made from the same solid wood as the shelf.

 

Now this set that has an $800 MSRP and was originally on pre-sale at Amazon for $600 is listed at the bargain price of $500.

That's a nice looking set. But still a bit too costly.

 

I hope one Day we can have an Extended Extended Edition of the lord of the ring trilogy. Not all the cut scene made it into the Extended cuts.

A streaming service is the perfect place to release a "The Lord of the Rings" cut of all three films. Re-edited into one 12 hour epic.

 

My parents saw the Hobbit trilogy and liked it a lot.

 

Boy, would I love to see an adaptation of the "Similarlion".

As much as the idea of the Sil on screen sounds good, I'd be worried PJ screws it up like The Hobbit.
No silly love triangles, no respect for the material.

 

PJ said he let pressure get the best of him to hurry it along. He has all kinds of respect for the material.

 

And it was the studio's idea to split The Hobbit into 3.

Originally, PJ was set to make 2 movies, with the first climaxing with the Barrel Ride, and the second taking in Lake-Town, Smaug and the battle.

I'd definitely argue that a single Hobbit movie would be too rushed, but that 3 was too padded.

I still enjoyed the films, but the length was questionable.

 

For that price the whole thing should be made out of cocaine.

 

Yeah, his idea for two films does sound like it would have worked better.
