Jimmy bites the bullet, and Denning is forever after known as everyone's favorite Star Wars author who can do no wrong.

Jimmy dies, Coruscant falls, in this dramatic climax to the New Jedi Order and first major novel contribution of Troy Denning, paralleling the career of Orson Welles.

Lol. Okay, here's an alternate, joke-free entry:

The epic middle book of the New Jedi Order that really has it all: Anakin dies a hero's death, Jacen is captured by Vergere and the Vong, Jaina flirts with the Dark Side, Coruscant falls to the enemy, Viqi Shesh is revealed as a traitor, Leia delivers a kickass speech to the New Republic, a bunch of lizard-people show up and help out the Jedi, Lando invents some badass Vong-killing droids, the Battle of Talfaglio happens, and Borsk does the galaxy a world of good by killing himself and 25,000 Vong.

Han and Leia's son dies heroically, their daughter starts a brush with the dark side, their other son is captured by the enemy, every single Star Wars character who isn't with the Solo kids tries and fails to defend Coruscant from conquest by extragalactic invaders in which the Chief of State of the New Republic is killed in a blaze of uncharacteristic glory . . . and "epic" gets redefined.

('Cause I'm shameless) Before Star by Star was released, someone let slip that a major character was going to die. This character was cryptically referred to as Jimmy, before the book came out and revealed that it was in fact Anakin who dies.

It's doubly cheap for you because you had two entries

If by uncharacteristic glory you mean "vandalizes the Imperial Palace and completely fails to kill his target" then yes :p

And I'm not even going to comment on redefining the word "epic" -- save to say that if it ain't in dactylic hexameter, then it ain't an epic :p

To hell with original quotes. You want one sentence or less for Star by Star? Look no further than this little gem from Leia Organa Solo, former Chief of State of the New Republic, broadcast from the Imperial Palace during the battle of Coruscant:

"Keep fighting until you can fight no longer, then exhaust the enemy chasing you, and turn and fight some more."

I would post the whole speech, but it would violate the rule of one sentence. Nothing else more need be said.^:)^[face_flag]

Jimmy dies, Coruscant falls because Kyle Katarn has yet to make an appearance in this series, and Denning slaughters the JJK and some of KJA's worst ideas ever, oh, and Anakin gets killed

A New Jedi Order author remembers that there were Young Jedi Knights books.

A multi-hundred-page advertisement for why every character should have a YVH war droid- they can find those pesky Vong infiltrators and they all sound like Lando Calrissian, so its win-win, though sadly Anakin Solo didn't bring enough YVH war droids on his mission and look how that ended up, and they didn't have enough YVH war droids to keep the Vong from Coruscant.

No matter what Denning does, I will continue to defend Star by Star.

A book just like any other Troy Denning book, featuring loads of character deaths, ineffectual, idiot governments, gruesome torment- both physical and psychological- described in more detail than just about anything else in the book, and heroic characters making morally ambiguous choices- with the only real difference being it was new and shocking to readers this first go around so people for some reason defend it in this book and not the next dozen or so times Denning wrote the exact same book over and over again when they became used to it.

Luke allows teenagers to go on a suicide mission, because he's a Jedi Master and makes smart decisions.
