alternate submission #2 and cheesy, shameless attempt to get likes:
Dark Forces was far superior.
In case your memory needs jogging, this is the one with HOLOGRAM FUN WORLD.
That's why I called it A Shocker on Shock Street in SPAAAAACE!!!
I'm very sorry for the constant delays. These past few weeks have been hectic, and I've been dealing with a funeral. Add that to my laptop being broken, making it difficult to find a moment to get online and update this thread, and you get a very irresponsible thread moderator. I should be clear from here on out, though, and to celebrate I'm going to do something a bit different, hopefully to your united scorn.
Havac wins this one.
Anyway, I mentioned something different.
Now now, there's no need for pitchforks. I know this is the Lit forum. I know those damn videa games don't count as literature. I know some of you will think this is a slippery slope that will eventually lead to me asking you to summarize Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels, Masters of Teras Kasi, or Star Wars 1987 (good luck getting that in one sentence). Maybe it will even lead to the films themselves! The horror!
But trust me, I'm not that desperate yet. I do, however, think that KOTOR is an absolutely integral part of the modern EU, and if nothing else, is at least almost as worthy for this thread as Bib Fortuna and the Rise of Dark Falls (relax, I said almost). In terms of pure story, it's easily got as much as any five EU novels. There's a lot here that could fill one sentence without even acknowledging that it's a game. And besides, I did The Dark Empire Sourcebook. Nowhere to go but up, right?
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY SPOILER WARNINGS!
A whiny pilot, a bratty Jedi princess, a snippy Twi'lek, a grumpy Wookiee, a grumpier Mandalorian, an even grumpier old man, a creepy cat lady, and a pair of awesome droids team up with an ex-Sith Lord to take down a guy wearing red spandex.
Actually I want you to do Masters of the Teras Kasi next.
Tell you what, if you win this one I'll do Masters of Teras Kasi soon.
I may have either just given you a huge boost or damned you completely.
Not sure about the game itself - but there's some mileage to be gotten out of the things that reference the game:
In the times when men were canonically men, where women were canonical love interests, when aliens had only five different ways to talk, when the choices were black and white and it was always clear which one was which... oh, and apartment robberies were surprisingly common too.
I enjoyed the game - it just didn't say much about the characters.
A game in which you could choose to be either a sickeningly goody-two-shoes saint or the world's pettiest Snidely Whiplash jackass while playing through a simplistic collection quest in a setting that was just a mishmash of the two trilogies, and it was totally awesome anyway.
I've always wanted to be **** at large in the galaxy and thankfully I was allowed to be in this, although controversially I preferred the second to the first.
"Look, I have your fodder."
Should have been set during the New Sith Wars.
Your face should have been set during the New Sith Wars.
Proof that literature can take more forms than just poetry, prose and play...
...and a sign from on high that the will of the beard is at work, for this can only lead to one thing: Dark Forces.
Statement- One of the best Star Wars games ever, even if everything just happened to look a lot like the prequel era, despite being set only a few decades after Tales of the Jedi.
Haha, totally forgot about this line. It's awesome.
Player Character: "No, I am your Revan."
Havac wins, though I will definitely have to steal that comeback of Cynical_Ben's.
The Restored Content mod version of course, because I ******* SAY SO!
Planescape:Torment... in space!
Probably the second best written game I've played, feat. many delicious shades of grey. This is Star Wars.
Needs more Carth.
