Four out of five stars here.

The entire CT still surpasses it -- but it surpasses everything else, too, so no shame in that.

I'm watching it now and I'm thinking 4.5 stars. Love it overall, but I still cringe a wee bit during some of the romance scenes. It gets a 5 star vote from me though, after rounding.

    ANH - 5 stars
    ESB - 5
    ROTJ - 4 (-1 for Disney-like Ewoks)
    TPM - 4 (-1 for Jar Jar)
    AOTC - 4.5

I just watched it again and I still give it 5 stars. So much happens during this movie. And not a single scene seemed boring. Still my favorite...

3 stars-I've just had a hard time getting into it. Doesn't cause me to shout with joy, doesn't cause me to recoil in horror, so lukewarm fits.

I am not a big fan of the prequels at all. Love the original trilogy that's one of the main reason I am here. There is so many directions George Lucas (let your imagination soar alittle) could have gone with both prequels and I am not happy with any one of the decisions he made thus far.

One of the lasting power of the OT was the sense of great mystery and discovery and wonderment (you didn't know what Lucas was going to throw at you next); swashbuckling action and suspense (again, you didn't know what surprises to expect from Lucas, the whole universe was a new experience); and then you had a choke full of memorable developed characters.

Gawd, I miss the old gang -- Vader, Luke, Obi, Han, Chewie, and Leia. I miss them dearly. That's Star Wars!!!!!

Anyways, I give AotC 1.5 stars out of 5 stars. Half a digit above TPM. Maybe reconsider by giving each a half higher ranking.

Ousley's yawn was more to what you posted.

But any ways I watched all the behind the scenes of AOTC. They used everthing from minitures, to sets, to going out to real places, to models, to even using CGI to make this movie. So there is not too much cgi at all.

All my stars go to AotC. It still remains my favorite of the saga, ahead of ESB.

Oh really anidanami? lol Nice to know you can explain sarcasm.

Not too much CGI? Sure there were miniature sets created, models, characters, etc.

but what was the finished product? How many effects shots did they have in that film? all of Corusant, Kamino are cgi! What movie did you watch? lol

Can you think of another way to create Coruscant and Kamino w/o CGI?

Whatever can be imagined, can be done through CGI.

I have no problem with it. As long as it looks real.....I don't care how much is used in a movie.

    A movie

How many effects shots did they have in that film?

Effects are anything from CGI to non-CGI

all of Corusant, Kamino are cgi!

Those are not Effects. A ship blowing up is any effect. Showing a city is not an effect.

    What movie did you watch?

    AOTC.

Wouldn't you consider a matte painting an "effect"?

There's any effect and backround. And again AOTC is not all CGI. Watch all the behind the scenes.

Nope, which is exactly my point. anidanami said that there isn't much cgi in aotc. Of course, from concept - the use of miniatures is necessary. But any behind the scenes footage I've seen has involved blue screens, etc.

Perhaps I am being too general in my definition of cgi but I know there's still plenty of it in AOTC. First ani said in previous threads that there's nothing wrong with cgi. Now s/he says there isn't that much!

    ugh!

Cgi has destroyed almost every barrier to the imagination of storytellers - how cnas this be a bed thing?

well, I don't know if it will be a bed thing but I'm thinking it might be a bad thing if all that is of substance to a movie is the CGI itself and not the story. I think this might be the case to a certain degree with AOTC which is why I gave it a mandatory deduction.
