Mmm, nearly a year old continuity nod. Gotta love it.

It was in their forum discussion thread or else I'd have never caught it.

Well, I'm too lazy to read back 5 posts to see whoever made the prediction, but whoever you were, you totally NALEd it apparently.

    haha...NALEd...what a barely appropriate pun...

Unless something seriously epic happens to intervene I would like to see Thog get killed by Roy.

Somehow I don't see Roy getting killed either.

What I am wondering is where in the name of Gygax Nale is, and what he's done that means Thog is in the areana. Did he and Sabine abandon Thog and expect him to get killed?

This story is so much easier to follow when you read it all in one go.

This might shock you, but you can read it all in one go on the website as well.

Eh, the difference between reading it all on the website and reading it all in a book probably comes down to about three-five minutes of total loading on a proper high speed connection, assuming all other distractions are held equal.

That said, I find book collections nice since you don't have to turn on your computer to peruse them.

I want to say it took me a week to get caught up when I first ran across OOTS. I did not stop to study just gave them a good read through and browsed the wiki. Still, I just occasionally forget quick things like the arcane eye. I usually run through the OS update thread to help with that sort of thing.

So, in a random rereading of some of the very early strips -- and just now noticing a ton of callbacks to the very early strips as foreshadowing before the most recent strip -- something seems off:

    http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0046.html

    http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0725.html

I don't think the interaction in 725 comes between the LG's first meeting with the OOTS and the current... 'twas my impression that 725 took place (flashback) and then Nale proceeded onwards until 46, where we intersected them in "real time" and two years has not yet passed.

If so, that's... quite an interesting timeline that doesn't make sense if everyone's telling the truth... ;)

I'm not following, I don't see the contradiction.

Nale's been working on a plan for years -- possibly relating to something his father told him when he was much younger on his knee -- involving the Talisman of Dorukan. But according to Tarquin, his falling out with Nale was 2 years ago... after Nale claims (via internal monologue) that he had a plan. Seems unlikely Nale would be fighting with Tarquin without having his plan(s) come to fruition first (either via the Talisman or whatever the follow-up plan to the Talisman was), unless Tarquin in Nale were actually in cahoots this whole time.

Granted, may not be that way, but the timelines don't exactly line up and putting out a bounty for "Nale" knowing the bounty hunters would grab Elan (since Nale is already safely ensconsed in the EoB) seems to be needlessly complicated...

I still don't see the contradiction. It makes perfect sense to me that they would have a falling out and then he'd go after the talisman.

    790 Unfamiliar

Good issue title, I was not expecting that character to pop up.

    GO, V!

Scroll use in 3rd panel. I never noticed V using one before.

    791 Don't Get MAD

I didn't understand the title, but:

MAD is Multiple Ability Dependency. It's a balance problem Monks and Paladins have, where they depend on three or more ability scores to be effective (and most PCs usually only have one or two high ability scores.) For most characters, some of their otherwise cool class features are useless because they can't be good at all of them.

Thog is referring to methods of making Intelligence useful for a melee Power Attacker, which would lead to MAD (being Strength-, Constitution-, and Intelligence-dependent.)

Now I do! I like the debate in their update thread that Thog may actually have a higher INT than Roy.

I would like to see Thog get killed, major character deaths are rare. If not I'd rather see Roy sort of lose but Nale interrupts by getting Thog out of there.
