From what I recall he does care about the 100ths. I will bet though he does something sorta kinda special for 1000. Filler? When it's filler that good I hope for more filler.

Reading the OOTS boards showed this with the title:

"Don't get MAD" is a reference to Soulja Boy's rap song "Don't Get Mad". The chorus repeats "Don't get mad cause the kidz like me."
Recall from #788 that Tarquin states "He's a crowd favorite" and "It's weird, no matter how many people he kills, the audience still thinks he's lovable."
Also, there are plenty fans of Order of the Stick who are fans of thog! So it's a double reference to fans of thog in addition to being a reference to Multiple Ability Dependency (which is why MAD is all capitals).
Listen to "Don't Get Mad" by Soulja Boy while reading #791 Don't get MAD and it is like thog's theme song as he kicks Roy's butt.

I'm honestly wondering what the big #800 reveal will be.

Also, fights with Roy have kind of lost their impact for me since killing him off again would just feel... well, tedious.

Nooooo! We wanted Belkar character development! BUT NOT AT THIS COST!

^Yeah, exactly. Belkar decided to fake development, but he may do it for real when he totally loses it IF...IF...the cat dies.

So much going on at the same time, I love it.

Something huge is gonna take place here. It's not just about Mr Scruffy and Belkar, the batlles are ongoing, no Nale yet. I think we are in for a shocker.

Technically only one. Just because they can take levels does not mean they will every time.

Negative levels =/= lost levels, they're just penalties that can turn into actual level losses after 24 hours, although since Durkon is with them that seems very unlikely.

Upon further inspection I am wrong. He is surrounded in the dark aura showing his level drain 3 times so he has temporarily lost 3 levels.

For those just worried about the comic, rest assured that I am back for the foreseeable future (which is not very foreseeable, but still). Thanks to those of you who expressed concern for me. I did want to emphasize to those of you who asked, however, that OOTS is still officially on a random schedule. I might post once a day, once a week, or once a month, depending on my ability to work, and that there will usually be no warning on my part beyond those explanations that are already on the record. Obviously, I'd like to post a few per week, but I wanted to stress that if I can't, please don't be surprised or expect additional notification. Let this serve as prior notice for all future absences: there won't be any prior notice of future absences.

That being said, I want to reiterate that I appreciated the well-wishes that I received in email from everyone, and am hopeful that I will be able to put out a lengthy string of comics before the next unplanned hiatus. I'm happy to finally get back to the story, and I hope you're still happy to be reading it.

Welcome back! Even though I suspect he knows not of this thread and such, but still.

The comic: Roy goes from "gonna kill" to "will the refs stop it?" This is not looking good for the heroes.

Surely Thog in the last panel is a reference to Hulk? The purple underpants, becoming visibly greener... :p

Definitely the vibe I got. Makes sense, seeing as barbarian rage is basically "Hulking out."

Damn. The OOTS are in a bad, bad place and this beat down is a symbol of all of it.

    797 Bird Brained

    Panel 5 = lol.

I love this bird. I am not a fan of familiars for wizards. I prefer the Pathfinder wizard focus route. But the V bird is cool.
