Didn't his smarter brother have the other eye missing?

Some stuff from the forums that might help:

From day 1, Redcloak has told Xykon that the ritual would control the Snarl, and give them command over it. Xykon wants to use the power of the Snarl to basically intimidate his way into ruling the world.

When he became a Lich, and lost his sense of taste, the reason Redcloak gave him for not killing him then and there was that if he died, Xykon would never be able to complete the ritual and control the Snarl. "You will have gone through all of this for nothing."

The ritual was never meant to control the Snarl. "Control" is a wholly alien concept to the thing. All it's meant to do is control the location of its portal. Redcloak intends to put it in the realm of the gods, and use that to give teh Dark One leverage over them.

In other words, Xykon really did go through all this for nothing.

Personally I am thinking that is total bull and Xycon knows all of it and has RC outsmarted without him relizing it.

    And in reference to dp4m:

"Wrong-Eye" both a joke about Redcloak losing his eye and a reference to Redcloak's brother, "Right-Eye" (who was missing his left eye)

Long story short, Redcloak killed his own brother. Right-Eye had a plan to kill Xykon. Had it worked, everything Redcloak had sacrificed and gone through would've been (in his mind), all for nothing.

I believe all that comes from the books which cover not only this strips but a number of items we do not see.

SO, Xycon wants to use control of the gates as a means of intimidating the world to do as he says. RC wants to send the gate to his god(or send the Snarl to his god) so his god gets a big playing card in the realms of the gods.

    830 Tidying Up

Quick, look away and do not read anything beyond this sentence if you have not read the comic.

One of the best deaths ever. Wow. Now what will be fun is seeing RC explain her death with whatever lie is needed. Xycon coming up soon it is safe to assume. Good, dark, evil issue. Loved it.

What's amazing to me is the forethought of HOW Redcloak killed her.

Raise Dead? Nope (killed with Death effects)
Speak With Dead? Nope (need an intact body)
Resurrection? Nope (need a part of the body -- which is incinerated)
True Resurrection? Nope (she'd be rezzed at 0 level... which wouldn't work)

The only thing that would work would be a Wish spell (Miracle will NOT work because "Yeah, I don't think the Dark One would help you with resurrecting his High Priest's replacement...")... which Xykon won't or can't cast.

He's also protected from truth-compulsions: "Did you kill her?" "No."

Uh... you know that sufficiently high level evil clerics can control undead, yes? I'd imagine he just did that.:p

    Ack, misread your post. Thought you were talking about the method by which he controlled the zombies and not the body disposal method. My bad.8-}

831 Two of a Kind Beats King High

Last two panels = excellent SW ref.

My interesting moment today was clicking on the main page, still seeing 830, then going to the fourms and seeing the Giant making two mistakes as he was trying to post and 831 thread, then clicking back and seeing 831 on the main page.

This feels like we are going to get a quick follow up. And I do love Team Evil banter.

Not going to lie, my first thought on panel two was

    [image=http://images.wikia.com/memoryalpha/en/images/5/5b/Geordi_La_Forge_2364.jpg]

"It's like trying to puncture a balloon that's tied to the back of an epileptic hamster by throwing glitter at it!"

837 The Name of the Windy

Hilarious. I have to say, Robert Plant sometimes comes to mind when I think of D&D. Plant was not only a fan of LOTR but he wrote a tune dedicated to it. I wonder what sorts of fantasties he has of wandering Middle Earth singing songs for various beings and courts. And then we have Elan. I think of Elan as looking like Ryan Reynolds, singing like Plant, but having have the INT of your average person.

    838 Either Way, Really

    Quick updates. And here's why:

    New comic is up.

Running a little behind on the "daily" aspect; this is technically Friday's strip. So expect another one late tonight. - The Giant

Now, we still have years I think before this ends. He said recently that they are past the halfway point. Taken literally that could mean hundreds of issues to go and at one a day that could mean 2 - 4 years. I doubt it's gonna be 1 a day for the rest of the run.

He never stated how FAR past the half-way point we are though.
OOTS could be 3/4 done by this point for all we know.

Rich has the patience of a saint to have taken it this far in my opinion.
