I have no idea if you are using hyperbole or not. Let's see, "treating it as reproduction" does not make it right to turn someone against their will into a vampire as Malack has done many times over as he admits aside from and including Belkar. Malack may be even tempered and even charming in a way, but he is far from good.
872 Consession Stands I am right. Evil. It is an old debate. Alignment is a dominating factor but does not preclude other personality traits. Malack is reasonable, but ultimately he is Evil. In this case he is quite insane too. Vampires in D&D can be charming, and even good! But not in this case. Mallack is a villain, Lawful Evil.
He's actually required to be evil by the SRD so. Like, he's definitely not anything other than Lawful, but the rules make any act of vampirism more or less automatically evil - because, well, DnD alignment is completely arbitrary and is determined by actions.
Rich has explicitly said he ignores the "always" alignment factors. In fact, trying to bridge differences in order to find a peaceful compromise without further bloodshed seems almost explicitly Neutral... no?
There are shades of gray throughout, but Malack is most definitely evil despite his even tempered/level headed nature. LN? Not impossible but Mallack is not LN. LE, all the way.
Yeah, I think it was back around the OTOoPCs book where the Paladins were speculated on losing their Paladinhood for massacring the Goblin commoners/villagers -- even the women or children -- he basically outright said that in the name of story he tends to ignore those alignment restrictions (except in certain cases like certain non-sentient / supernatural alignment restrictions). EDIT: And Montie, he certainly could be LE, but it's not guaranteed. That was my only point. I lean towards LN but he could even be TN in some respects...
Durkon generally doe snothing for me, but at times like this I do cheer. I like creepy vapor cloud Malack in #874. Malack is the very definition of Affably Evil try not to get addicted to tvtropes today. Click, read, escape.
877: The Bright Side Will Spoil the Issue (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Will Spoil the Issue (open) Will Spoil the Issue (close)
to also not spoil issue (Move your mouse to reveal the content) to also not spoil issue (open) to also not spoil issue (close) Well this makes sense. Durkon will return posthumously to his homelands and bring doom and destruction to them as an undead. Thus fulfilling two prophecies.
Wait. Wait. WAIT. Durkon... he is Lawful Good, like Roy, right? And... time has no meaning in LG afterlife... right? http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0664.html Roy was planning for someone else to die? The archon is in on it? Is this ... Chekhov's Archon?
The Giant is just in overdrive right now ain't he? Won't this mean Durkon cannot call upon Thor for spells? Will he now have to turn to Malak's religion?
879: Running on Empty Sort of an inevitable denouement after the last couple of roller coasters, but still somewhat amusing. Plus, hey, it reminded me of a certain obvious Jackson Browne song.
