I'm sincerely hoping this results in us getting some kind of huge wham moment for, say, 899, so that 900 can be a lame one-off gag.

I find it hilarious that in all of this Belkar had no clue about the Snarl and it reflects his self centered nature.

Let's throw back here There is the deal. Time = amount of time a soul splice was held. But anything could happen. It is entirely possible V has one other bargaining chip. The imp had no idea who they were. He was answering to someone else, and these three are not the ultimate in power. But I have no idea what they are going to do with V's soul.

As always I pray to the D&D pantheon of gods that the next update is quick.

Grr, I hate cliffhangers like this... [face_frustrated]

But yeah, awesome update. "When in doubt, set it on fire." Classic Belkar. :p

    Let us review the IFCC.

    HERE and HERE

They are essentially working against everyone. Also note the times they have V's soul 3 miniutes 6 seconds for one, 20 minutes 35 seconds for the other two. And they all have plans for their times not just torture. Everything is about the gates.

And that's what I was curious about. I too thought it menat upon her/his death, But they can call on it anytime.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. -- Edmund Burke

If the Pinhead was a stand up comic he'd be the IFCC.

I thought in the last comic they were going to call in V's debt.

They are. It's just that 'calling in the debt' seems to involve having V tied up and watching a plasma screen for 20 mins, 35 secs. :p

898 Let's get ready to rumble

I totally thought this was gonna be a battle given the title. This is a big ol' fat tease update. "This way" is not to the top.

Roy et. al. are following Belkar, not going by the way out.

Yep, Roy is seeing it Belkar's way and Elan and Haley are not happy about what they are looking at. I cannot even guess at what they see. I went back a few comics to see what might be by the stairs.

I'm wondering if the hidden tunnels V was using have now been exposed and will provide a way for them to escape - which means that they'll likely come across V's prone body.

Man, if 900 is an anti-climactic gag, I'm officially on a roll.

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh damn that was awesome.

Looking through the official site we see this post:

O.K., let's do this. How much work is needed to move 500,000 tons a 100 feet up in the air? Well work = force X distance. And force = mass X acceleration. The mass involved is ~450 million kilograms since a ton is (very roughly) 900 kilos or so. The acceleration is going to be against gravity, which we'll assume is = to our world's. So, ~10 m/s^2. Or about 4.5 billion newtons. Exert that 4.5 billion newtons over 30 or so meters and you get 135 billion joules. Multiply that by the factor of 10 that Amphiox suggests, and you get ~1.5 trillion joules.

From this wiki of energy orders of magnitude, 10^12 Joules is in the ballpark of things like the energy from half the fuel load of a fully loaded Airbus 330's fuel tanks. If we divide 1.35 TJ by the figure for the energy of 1 gram of TNT (4.2 X 10^3 J), I get a pile of TNT that masses 357 tons, so round to 350, or 400 if we want to account for the energy of throwing the rock through air resistance. 400 tons is an awful lot of TNT, even if it's dinky for a nuke.

    lol.

So 900: Xykon and Red Cloak down, MitD still standing unscathed, "Heh, that tickled a little."

I'm sure Roy made his saving throw, but he's gonna take damage. It is quite possible Elan with his cure spell gave him the hit points to live as you atke damage despite making a saving throw from a Disintegrate Spell. I wonder if Roy will acknowledge that. The last panel with Redcloak's comment pretty much reveals Roy's survival. Panel 4, lol.

Team Evil seems to be just outside that line. Look at the first and last panel. OOTS is at the rift, and Team Evil is "south" of them.

MITD got his umbrella a bit ruffled, but is otherwise fine it seems. :D

I thought you were referring to the Order hiding in the coffin, but re-reading the comic again I see it now. [face_laugh]

    901 Friend of a friend

I think this is an example of high WIS but low INT on the part of MitD.

    Silicon golem? lol.

Do you have a favorite golem type? I like the Pathfinder Canon Golem, myself.
