So there will be a coming confrontation in which one of the OOTS tells the vampire Durkon not knowing he is being controlled. Not sure how to read this. A bitter/sweet ending for Durkon? The dwarves destroyed? He saves them all then passes on?

I'm brain farting on Odin's antics but he was a trickster good too, not just Loki. Generally, Thor or Loki had to clean up his messes. in this case though it could be a simple matter of Odin seeing that the OOTS would not have made it through the adventure without Durkon. Could be the gods use the adventurers as pawns, and Durkon is just Odin's playing piece.
