Open Call for Main Forum Banners

Please see this Communications thread for all the details on size and types of banners required.

What we're looking for is creativity. Take a look around the forums and try to develop a banner that captures the feel of Star Wars overall. Think about the films, books, fandom, the saga. Think outside the box. This banner is the one that will be the default for the forums so please keep that in mind. Don't focus on any one film or element.

Post your questions in here or send me or Raven a PM. You are welcome to submit your banners in this thread as a link or if you wish you can PM them to either me or Raven. We may choose one or several. This is a bit different than other forums because of the higher visibility of the banner. Just because a banner is submitted does not necessarily mean it will become a part of the one's we choose from. If it's looking really good, we might provide some feedback for improvements that would most certainly place the banner in the running. We'll send feedback to you via PM.

Make sure the dimensions of the banners are correct right up front. If you want opinions on banner-making outside of me and Raven, we can PM you the names of half a dozen or so users on the boards who reguarly create professional banners for us who would be more than happy to offer constructive feedback as well. Also, feel free to develop the stylesheet you envision looking best with your banner. It's not a requirement and its submittal doesn't necessarily mean acceptance of the banner means acceptance of the stylesheet as well. It's just that an artist developing the banner may have the best idea of how the stylesheet would look and so we're giving you that option of developing it yourself righ up front.

Most of all, have fun. That's what it's all about.

 

Adding to what Sape said, I want to emphasize that this is not a banner contest. There is no set deadline, and no plans for a single winner.

Our goal is to have options available for "freshening up" the look of the boards. We may pick multiple banners, or none at all.

A nice saga oriented banner focusing on the Skwyalkers as main and others in the background would be nice.

 

A non-head banner would be wonderful.

 

Here's some fodder I cooked up real quick. It exists primarily out of reconstructed old wallpaper artwork, only faster, more intense.

Fodder? If I put all my efforts into making a banner and came out with something like that, I'd be a very happy man.

 

Not a bad idea, but the artist would really have to try to make it as unique as possible. If they do, I'd love to see some Skywalker banners.

I'm glad you guys like it. I've updated a bit here and there, so you might have to refresh your browser to see it in it's current state. It's still a screenshot, so the quality's a bit off, but you get the idea.

 

Also, brilliant corner work, as usual.

The only thing I'd say is it is a little 'busy'. But that's more a general cricitism I have of banners, my own included.
