    hello guys
Does anyone know why, when I try to open the Yoda 3.max file it tells me:
    "Unknown class, no stand-in:Super ID=0X10D0,Class =(0X1721305E,0X689452A1)
    Is it because I'm using 3dmax 4?

Well, there is a max script called "Back from 5" that will convert version 5 to previous versions, but I don't know where it is, google search it.

Well I am still unable to load it into my Version of 3d Studio Max 4, but I noticed that there are missing DLL files that I require.
    The files are as follows

    1.ViewportManager.gup
    2.RayFXAreaShadow.dlo
    3.Simcloth.dlm

Can anyone Help Me? Or maybe Convert yoda3.max to a 3dmax4 version for me?

Try importing the .obj file instead of the .max.

I think those first two are related to a GI renderer like Final Render. The last one is a possibly a free one. Either way read the readme file for info... search Google for these that may be free... or just click OK b/c you can still use the file anyway. Yoda's clothing using "clothsim" obviously so you'll have to acquire that or use your own.

The simcloth plugin is a free plugin that you can download from some site and it installs itself, but the viewport manager is parts of Max 5 and the other one I think is just a plugin you can probably download from somewhere. but the Back From Five script I know does not work.

well zoo i've tried opening a dozen times and the first thing that appears is this:
    "Unknown class, no stand-in:Super ID=0X10D0,Class =(0X1721305E,0X689452A1)"

(which I have no clue what this means)
and then it tells me that I'm missing those 3 files then it says:
    "File Opened failed: F:\3dmax models\yoda 3(max 5\Yoda-cloth-bip.max"

Well, these are all diff. issues. The dll ones are pretty easy to fix or just ignore. But the other one it sounds like you are back to the major issues here... opening 5 in 4. MAX is not upwards compatible. So I don't know if it's just you, or the BF5 plugin isn't installed right, working right, being used right. I've never used it myself.

You are using hosefelt's yoda, right? Well, there is also a .obj format you can download. I think Max opens it.

Back from 5 works only with Max5. You need somebody who has it and converts it for you into a max4 file.

I don't have time to do backward conversions. I try to include as many versions possible for people tho. Hopefully somebody else can help. And if you want I'll put that new version on the site too for people.
