    Something I recieved today:

MINAS TIRITH (Gondor News Network) - Thousands of peace activists took to the streets of Minas Tirith and other cities of Middle Earth today to protest what they termed a rush to war with Mordor.

"We need more time for diplomacy," said a key member of the Middle-Earth Security Council, Saruman the White. "I am not convinced by the evidence presented by my esteemed colleague, Gandalf the Grey, or that the Dark Lord Sauron presents an imminent danger to the peoples of the West."

Many of the people protesting war in Mordor agreed with Saruman's remarks. "Sauron says he's destroyed his Rings of Mass Destruction (RMD) and that's good enough for me," said one fellow carrying a sign that said "Elrond is a Balrog." Another demonstrator urged, "Give the RMD inspectors more time. There's no reason to rush to any judgment just
because Mount Doom is belching lava, the Dark Tower is rebuilt, and Osgiliath has been decimated."

A third protester piped up, "I haven't heard a single bit of convincing evidence connecting the Nazgul with Sauron. I think they destroyed Osgiliath on their own initiative without any support from Sauron. Besides, it's understandable they're angry with Gondor. We haven't done
nearly as much for the Orcs and Goblins and Easterlings as the Nazgul and Sauron have. It's understandable they throw their support to them.? It's our own fault really."

As the protesters continued their march through the city, they chanted, "No blood for Mount Doom," voicing a common sentiment that the leaders of the Western peoples are really seeking to get their hands on the powerful Mount Doom, where the One Ring of Power was allegedly forged.

Gandalf the Grey was unavailable for comment. A spokesman said he was in an undisclosed underground location, which sources have revealed is codenamed: Moria.

unlike in the work of Fantasy and Fiction there is no such thing as pure evil in reality.

Orcs may be amoral killing machines that only care for themselves but can the same be said Iraq's army?

You can not simply divide everythibng up into good and evil, life's just more complicated than that.

    no ****.

but correct me if I'm wrong, I believe it's satire about an important issue and ridiculing those who oppose a war with Iraq.

It's also just one person's point of view, not a persuasive piece. I've seen worse said here against pro-war people, I doubt this was meant to be a subtle subconscious message from Marvin. Especially since I doubt he's capable of such subtlety. ;)

I'm not disputing your right to post that Marvin but I believe I have a right to respond as I see fit.

Do you even understand what satire is?

Marv is capable of being way subtle!

For instance, I only recently found out (after his clever asides) that Marv is quite the Johnny Howard fan.

    Who woulda thunk it?!

I do believe that what they did they thought they did for the best of intentions. Yes they did deface the Opera House...but you gotta admit everyone could see their message. I admire their action, they did what they thought they had to do with limited resource and they got their point across. Besides the paint did come off...at least they didn't go so far as to use blood...and it was not something obscene like **** you Howard/Bush.

Good to see Bob Carr's promise of protecting Sydney's landmarks has been fulfilled. Let's add that to his other accomplishment; increasing NSW's crime rate astronomically.

Yeah, they've got no major landmarks.

Anyway. Go and paint Big Ben if it's your opinion and country. Don't use an Australian icon to pass off your opinion as all of Australia's.

And that was a sly one Stinky. BTW, how's it looking for the Libs on Saturday? They're advertising under a different name up here this time. Hunter First. :)

Heh, yeah, well I know the Libs have very little chance of winning on Saturday. It's just a shame we have to put with Bob Carr doing nothing for another 4 years

The road to hell is paved with the bricks of good intentions; so what's your point?

Hey, stinrab, you could always vote Green! [face_laugh]

Have you heard their radio ads? "This war is about oil and killing innocent Iraqis. Vote Green."

    Morons.

MarvinTheMartian is actually a utopian socialist deep down, he just hates himself for it. Don't ya, Comrade Martian! ;)

Heh, I love how the Greens are using the Iraq war to campaign. Now, how would voting for the Greens in a state election stop the war in Iraq? Anyone? Bueller? The idiot Greens appealing to society's idiots

Thats because Bob brown and the greens dont actually have any policies to campaign on, and have to rely on populist views like anti-war sentiment to even get a TV interview. Unless you actually count their drug reform 'policies'.

I heard that the guy recently did the bridge climb and thought he could then do the same with the Opera House!!

But seriously, about the paint thing, the main thing that upsets me is that it was hard to get it off and tax payers will have to pay for it. Thanks mate.

The anti war demonstrators showed how intelligent they are by vandalising Bob Carr's car as he drove past. Hello!! this guy is ANTI WAR, so why attack him. Also being anti war is supposed to be peacful. If you have to resort to using force to get your point across then you are no better than Bush anyway.
