Would someone PLEASE clear this up for me.

On the back of the cards for action figures issued around the time of the SE, Leia is "Leia Organa"... but if she was adopted by Bail Antilles then why isn't SHE an Antilles too?

Name changing to protect her is out of the question because, afterall, Luke remained a Skywalker and he mananged to live for years undiscovered.

    Anyone got the answer?

She IS adopted by Bail Organa, what made you think she is adopted by Bail Antillies?

    Slight confusion here...

"PANAKA: Bail Antilles of Alderaan" [TPM]

"TARKIN: ...I have chosen to test this station's destructive power... on your home planet of Alderaan" [ANH]

Too many Bails for my liking!

So are there two Bails on Alderaan?

In any event, Leia was adopted by Bail Organa.

Yes, there are obviously two Bails on Alderaan. One is named Bail Antilles, and the other is named Bail Organa.

Yeah, at the end of the day Bail ORGANA is standing with Palpatine at the end of AOTC overlooking the clones but the mere mention of another Bail from Alderaan just served to confuse me!

How can that be confusing? There are thousands or millions of Johns, Bills, Mikes, Susans, etc on Earth. How is having two Bails on Alderaan any different?

Perhaps "Bail" is the "John" or "Bill" of the GFFA.

It was said that Antilles is the "Smith" of the GFFA, so Bail Antilles is kinda like "John Smith", a very common name.

bail antilles was the senator from alderaan who was nominated to replace volorum in tpm, from what ive heard, after his loss to palpatine, he sort of faded away and senatorial duties were turned over to viceroy bail organa of alderaan

I thought Bail Antilles was the captain of the Tantive IV in ANH.

Bail Antilles = former senator for Alderaan.

Bail Organa = current Senator for Alderaan.

Captain Antilles = former captain (now deceased) of Tantive IV.

Leia was adopted by Bail Organa, not Antilles. :)

And Luke had a Jedi Knight to watch over him. No such luck for Leia.

I think you might be right, Guin, which is why the block of islands also bears that name.

Hey, for all we know, "Bail" could be a royal or governmental title. It has happened before, you know.

The Antilles are a geographic name for the Islands of the Caribbean Sea.

There are the Greater Antilles (Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Hispaniola, which consists of Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and the Lesser Antilles (smaller islands forming an arc from Puerto Rico to the coast of South America.) I believe the Netherlands Antilles are a subset of the Lesser Antilles.
