Billy Boyd-wasn't he Merry in LOTR? If so he has the same birthday as me only a year older. (August 28th) Can you believe he's 35???

Say, JW, did you go to Origins last year?

I did and picked up four of the Silver Boba Fett's. Had to drag the finaceé along to get the other two.

She had a good time though.

Lots of cool stuff to see and this is were I met Mercedes Ngoh (Rystall-one of Jabba's dancers from the special additions-with the bright pink-red hair) for the first time.

Unfortunately I won't be around, but I don't think I'd want to try my luck with it anyway. Most of you remember but for those who don't, Origins was the convention associated with the Star Wars breakfast that some of us went to last year...the one I went to after 8 hours in the ER from a car accident, on about an hour of sleep. Of all the times I've been called insane, I think I was most deserving of it that very day.

 

Where is Origins at?

 

I'll be in Wooster that weekend. I found roundtrip tickets to Boston for $103 direct flight, so I'm visiting my brother. Otherwise I'd be interested.

 

Origins is in Colombus. Mary, you should pay the Boston Rebels a visit sometime while you're up here.

 

Thinking about going. Me and some friends play Heroclix and I'm considering entering the tournament.

But I'll only be going if one of them goes. And I doubt that since one is getting married later this summer and the other is permanently broke.

 

I'll go...wouldn't mind hitchiung a ride with someone for this one (I always drive)

Other then 1 Hobbit, anyone from the usual SW celebrities going to be there?

No. Billy Boyd is Peregrin Took (Pippin). Dominic Monahan is Merriadoc Brandybuck (Merry). But the two are quite similar, so it's very easy to confuse them.

And no. I didn't go last year. People went down on a Friday and I had to work. I am not much of any kind of gamer. I've played D&D once. And video games a handful of times. But I'm not big into comics either.

Heard this from some friends on the Farscape boards:
Actor Sean Astin, best known to gamers as "Samwise Gamgee" in The Lord of
the Rings film trilogy, will be the Guest of Honor at Origins this year. Mr.
Astin graciously agreed to appear when the previous guest, Billy Boyd
("Pippin" from LotR) had to cancel due to his shooting schedule for another
film.

So Kim...looks like you get your wish! Nothing against Billy Boyd, but I'm more interested in meeting Sean Astin. he's been in several great movies, and his work as Sam deserved some serious consideration for an Oscar (like 1 more for ROTK would have killed someone)

Time to take back the Pippin figure and get a Samwise one!

 

Sean Astin is the man... he's been in a slew of great films. This might be right before my first day of grad school, but sheesh, what a way to end my all-too-brief summer.

 

Is Billy Boyd still going to be there? I only noticed Sean Astin on their website's guest list.

Billy Boyd isn't going to be there? That was the only reason why I was going to go down! He is my favorite Hobbit! (But I guess Sean Austin is goo enough though... I like him second. (And Billy and Sean are my first and second favorite characters in LOTR. ))

 

I'll probably ask Sean to sign the standard 8X10 picture. I've got a nice collection of these started between Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, and various Star Wars celebrities.

I'm still going...sounds like fun!

Yes! I loved Sean Astin as Samwise and would be interested in attending (just to meet him) if I wasn't already committed to something else then!
Oh, well, I'll keep watching ROTK. My R4 unit says:

I just realized that I agreed to work the morning of that Saturday!

Maybe I can push the time to earlier in the day.

So are we going Saturday now? I'm certian as "guest of honor" he'll be there the entire weekend. And if the LOTR panel is on Sunday...I would hope he is there for that. In fact, I hope he's signing autographs at all???

I am going to try to change the hours that I am working to 9-11am rather than 10-12. Then I have a chance of meeting Sean. I hope that any "talks" that he gives are in the afternoon.

 

I just hope there isn't any long waits...I would rather of had Billy Boyd but Sean is just as good!!!


Now I have to start saying for his autograph to go into my collection!!!!
