Near the end of ROTS when Anakin and Padme are on Mustafar and Anakin is trying to tell Padme that he is doing the right thing Anakin makes a remark that could have come out of George Orwell`s 1984. Anakin says "I`m fighting for peace democracy, security and the Empire"(sic!) To me this oxymoronic statement (how can an absolute Empire be democratic?) can only be described as doublethink. I almost expected Anakin to tell Padme that "Freedom is Slavery,War is Peace and Ignorance is Strength". I know that Lucas is influenced by classic literatureand may have been trying to incorporate Orwellian themes into the "propaganda" first of Palpatine(esp.his Empire Speech) and then Anakin`s attempt at selling the ideas of Empire to Padme on Mustafar.
