For those of you who are also Trek fans and hadn't heard this yet - James Doohan passed away this morning. Here's where I [link=http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=1&id=31712]first heard[/link] about it. As someone on the SWAP boards said - Scotty has finally beamed up. :(

    It is quite sad indeed...

I count myself fortunate for sharing a short time with Jimmy when he was in Rochester a number of years ago.

Fortunately he shall never be forgotten.

Well remembered, Wingnut. A great, and fitting line.

Though I did not meet the man myself, I do feel a special kinship with Mr. Doohan. He did a "bump" for our show back when I was doing a public access tv a number of years ago ("Not Yet Rated" for those curious; a film-review and movie stuff-related show). He was in town shooting a battery commercial, my producer was on the crew, and got him to do the bit. It's cool to have anyone famous plug your show/work, and this was "Scotty" himself!

The sky is a bit darker tonight, as one of it's stars has faded to black.
