I'm not denying use of green screen. I was just simply saying there is more practical effects used in the PT than people realize. Besides which, a lot of AOTC used real locations, such as the Tatooine and Naboo sets. Also, a lot of the sets used were miniatures (Utapau, Mustafar, and Kashyyk used detailed miniatures). The practical effects were still there, but George and the team highlighted those effects with CG to complete the picture.

Naboo and Coruscant used lots of miniatures, too. Each PT film individually had more miniature and model work than all of the OT combined, far as I know.

It's actually always puzzled me that people attribute the "terrible" acting in the PT to green screen. Almost all of Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen's scenes in AOTC were on set or filmed on location, but they're generally panned as the worst-acted scenes of the Saga.

The apartment scene -- on set
The scene with the Queen and arrival on Naboo -- on location
Hiding out -- on location in Italy
In the field -- on location
On Tatooine -- on location in Tunisia

Only the Geonosis factory was really purely blue screen. If anything, Ewan McGregor got the overwhelming majority of the blue/green screen scenes in that film.

It is true that most of the outdoor scenes in AOTC and ROTS are CGI. But all the indoor scenes are sets. And most of the outdoor in TPM is real locations also. Tatooine is real in every movie.
And as far as models, I know that most of the space battle in TPM is models, and there are several scenes in AOTC & ROTS that use models too.

I'm doing PT because I'm an extremely big fan of it! But I like the saga as a whole, I hate picking which one is better!

Not in ROTS - that final scene was shot on a soundstage. To my knowledge, nothing in ROTS was shot on location at all.

The OT wouldn't be as good without the PT and vice versa....it's all Star Wars so how could you not like both :D

Maybe you weren't around in 1983 after the release of ROTJ, when the OOT was the most successful trilogy of all-time. ;)

I saw both ESB and ROTJ in the cinema the first time around and I do agree the OT is a fine trilogy but I've enjoyed them a lot more after watching the rise of Vader and the fall of Anakin. From the first time I saw Episode IV at the start of ANH I couldn't wait to see I-III.

Is it really that hard for people to pick one trilogy over the over instead of just the saga?

When you love both equally...yes. It can be like picking a favorite child...which is impossible. ;)

I love the saga as a whole myself but when watching just ANH, ESB and ROTJ or TPM, AOTC and ROTS I know which trilogy I would pick. It is good though that people are accepting the saga as a whole though.

I'm just curious: does it make any difference - does one side "win" and the other "lose"? Or are you merely curious to see the breakdown (and I submit the results are a bit skewed since "saga" is not an option) or will the results be used as evidence to support "most people agree __"?

With that said, I am pleasantly surprised that the overall tone of this thread has remained civil; the initial post on. =D= to all. Maybe we can all get along.

Edited to add: Upon rereading I can see this post coming across, um, not as intended. My true intention is one of curiousity, not implication.
