    i have heard time and time again Mac users complain they can't watch avi's i found this link on TSS that might be able to help you out

    I haven't had any trouble viewing divx encoded avi's. All you need to do is download the divx decoder from divx.com for mac. If the sound doesn't work you just throw it into the divx validator program that comes with the download and it will make the sound audible.
