That'd be a shame if it happens, because right now Aysel Yan'ii is hands down my MVP candidate.

Yes, except for the fact that it was already raining. ;)

I call dibs on Marty Feldman as character inspiration, though. :p

Dare I say it? I think I dare. Vehn is the master of the gut-wrenching emotional post in this game. Sure, anyone can take a great veteran's last season and make it memorable, but to take an owner and do the same thing? Awesome. Of course, when your team is based in a city with such pain and suffering, it's easy to do, right? ;)

Also, given Kaitlyn's plans, I'm betting this is what Six Boroughs looks like now:

And this is what it's going to look like when Kaitlyn is finished landing a UFO on top of it:

Let the revocation of galactic historical monument status commence! :D

As a side note, not only was my Bakuran anthem tradition inspired by the festival scene in The Sound of Music, but it's also inspired by Canadian sports fans, as Rebecca_Daniels will be proud to hear. ;)

Start at 1:55 for the pertinent bit, and also probably one of the best renditions of O Canada that I've ever heard.

Darlin', Vancouver started that. We've had an opera singer doing our anthems since the beginning, along with the singing along and pausing so the audience sings. Just saying ;) We also started the towel twirling.

I have no idea where it started, just that you all do it. I also know about the towel bit starting with you guys...and the fact that it was done to protest the officiating.

But if you really want to get technical, Pittsburgh Steeler fans predated that by using the Terrible Towel 7 years earlier in 1975. ;)

However, the Miners do not use towels at Bakura Gardens as a promotional item. No, not because they would throw them on the field or anything like that. I cite my personal experience at college football games. I noticed that the crowd noise was more muted when people were waving towels as I believe the spinning of the towel basically threw the noise back in our faces and not onto te field where it was supposed to go (nevermind that my college team didn't play in some fancy sound trapping stadium like SOME teams I could talk about). Ergo, no towels for Bakura. ;)

The rest of Canada just copied us because our anthem is better suited to the pause and make people sing thing. But that's not a fraction of how loud it is at Rogers Arena. Pretty awesome when you're there, too. The American anthem is always awkward though because no one knows it beyond the first line >.>

Not the same :p We have a statue to Roger Neilson outside the arena, though. We're very proud.

I've never noticed a difference. Don't know if it's because hockey arenas are closed or what but it's never any different at the games I've been to. Hmm.

I'll have to figure out some way to incorporate all this into my team, of course. Too bad Limmie doesn't have sticks to raise a white flag-towel [face_thinking] maybe my Wookiees can raise it :p

Have a Wookiee break off a plank of the team bench and then use it to wave the towel. :D That would actually be pretty realistic. ;)

But if they dare do it at my stadium, I think the grounds crew is going to open a can of whoop-ass on them. ;) Just FYI.

Not only shutouts, complete blowouts. The Mercs points differential is going to be screwed for the rest of the season now. :p
