OOC Out of Bounds (The ELL OOC Thread)

Going to settle the "Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Cleveland Browns" debate?

Well, OK, then. I take it you believe the Tide would roll through Cleveland, then? I'm on the fence myself, and most of my friends think the Browns would curbstomp them. I'd love to see Tide vs. Browns actually play out on the field, but I doubt either the NCAA or the NFLPA would allow it.

I'm trying to think of a proper way to simulate this type of college vs. pros game in our RPG here, and I can't figure it out because we have literally zero real-world reference points for how such a game would play out.

 

How have I never thought of this?

Hey Vehn I don't suppose Nar Shaddaa's got an awesomely iconic museum that we're drafting on the steps of, do they?

 

Not sure about any specific museum or such location myself, though Vehn could easily make something up.

But I'd wager that the ELL Draft is being hosted somewhere close to, or in, the Lucent Square of the Promenade District.

Pro teams play college teams in baseball Spring Training. It's usually the first few games (and most teams don't), but for instance the Red Sox played Boston U this year, and I seem to recall a game or two at West Point (or maybe Annapolis) featuring a pro team. So it has been done before, but just in MLB. The college teams are good to go because their seasons start around that point, so it's extra practice for the college season.

 

Okay gang, regarding the breaking news post in the ELL thread, I decided to try something new. It was inspired by this recent event. Sancheese was randomly (though, in my opinion, happily) selected to have these headlines apply to him since he technically belongs to no one right now. If you select Sancheese, you can choose for these rumors to be 100% false and have no scandal at all. You can also choose to make these reports a plot point in your draft posts. It's all in the service of creating a little more drama.

I'm interested in whether you feel this kind of event is useful in the game or if it's more an annoyance. I promise there will not be any others this draft.

 

It happened twice at the Combine this year, actually.

I like it! I'm all for GM posts that give us stuff to work with like that. I remember back when I started in this game, you would occasionally post something like a magazine column or HSN feature discussing upcoming games such as a playoff preview. I miss that and would love to have them back.

 

Heavily agreed with the others. Loved it! Its a good way of shaking things up and adding a little bit of unpredictable realism to things. And since whomever drafts Sancheese eventually gets to decide the course of that storyline (Be it brief or not), its not like you're limiting anyone's creativity.

Loved all the posts so far, people Great writing as usual! So many different perspectives. So many different opinions. Runjedirun, that last one had me in stitches a few times but the dialogue, the character dynamics, that had me really feeling like I was right there in that summer house with a sort of dysfunctional family lol. Somehow you always bring the most casual activities to light with your writing. Nice.
