The horns don't bother me personally but I seriously think they may be affecting the play of the teams.

 

lol... I thought Slovakia was basically rounding things out... New Zealand went ahead and tied it up while I was out getting coffee! I just saw the tying goal in stoppage time. Incredible stuff!

 

That was the first point for the Kiwis in the World Cup, ever. It could have been independent Slovakia's first victory, too. Looking forward to Brasil getting started on it's campaign today.

 

Portugal and Ivory Coast... scoreless and tied and done. Big yawn. lol

The second half was a lot of fun to watch. I'm glad the Brasilians won, but North Korea made things interesting right at the end. The Group of Death will be interesting this tourney.

 

It was so goofy, it looked like Brazil dominated that game, they were just all over the field but they couldn't get the ball in on some of those that they should have. Kudos to North Korea for making a game of it!

 

The poor Honduran keeper is working overtime this match. Chile is just serious business!

 

Looking forward to Spain - Switzerland!

I caught the end of Chile - Honduras. Chile had many quality chances for more goals...I hope the goal differential bug doesn't come back to bite them when they want to advance to the next round.

Edit - The Swiss score? Wow, what a crazy sequence of events there!

EDIT: Good lawd, the Swiss have teeth when they get in range once every blue moon! Spain's got a million chances and can't score, I swear. lol

 

Wow. Congrats, Switzerland. I definitely didn't expect that result. Spain had so many chances, but couldn't score. First big upset of the tourney.

Can'r believe Spain couldn't find a way into the net. Well done Suisse! RSA vs. URU is a pretty good game so far. Hope South Africa can tie.

Uruguay added another goal in stoppage time. They played well against South Africa. It was Uruguay's second World Cup victory in the last 18 matches, I believe. So congrats to them.

 

Congrats to the Swiss, and I think that was the best game of the tournament so far.

 

It was fun to watch, but frustrating, too. Spain had so many chances, but couldn't cash in. I still don't know if I entirely believe my eyes.

 

Spain/Swiss was a better game despite less goals than Uruguay and RSA

 

Spain ... wow. Not a death knell, but not a good omen, either.

 

The Argentinians in 1990 were the last team to make it to the final match after loosing their opener. I don't believe that anyone has won the tournament after loosing that match, though.

 

Just saw that factoid on si.com. No team has ever won the cup after losing their first game.
