Fanclub Oya manda!: The Mandalorian/Republic Commando Fan Club

I cannot think of a better person to help represent this club in the Senate and frankly to represent Mandalorian fandom anywhere on the boards. Thank you so much for volunteering to help us out here.

 

Not sure how many of you watch The Simpsons, but last night's episode had Mandalorians battling Yoda in a bootleg spoof called "Cosmic Wars".

 

So here's a question for the group. How many of you think we will see at least 1 Mandalorian (Boba counts) in Episode VII?

Personally, I'm hoping for at least 1...and it not just be Boba. Mostly because if we do then that always ups the game for new EU material coming down the pipe.

 

Not sure if we will see one in Episode VII, but am betting we will by Episode VIII. Not really basing that on anything, except we first saw Jango in the 2nd movie of the PT and Boba in the 2nd movie of the OT and this would continue that pattern.

 

Yes but remember they went back and added Boba into EP4. I think the fan base for mandos is big enough, there's a good chance we may see one sitting in the background in some cantina scene.

 

I would love to see one, especially as you say in a background scene or even some new minor character. There is certainly the fan base for such. I wouldn't mind seeing Boba himself (maybe just a cameo) as well because it would cement to all the "movie only" folks that he survived the Sarlacc. I am sure it will be far too much to ask to see a Mandalorian shown in a "good light" though.

 

Well that depends on a certain point of view....

 

Maybe a par of mandolorian bodyguards for Leia? Or the leader of the new Republic?

 

My biggest hope is that they delve into the mandalorian culture on the big screen. Almost like how Karen Traviss wrote the LOTF books.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if there turns out to be a minor mandalorian character, or side plot involving mandalorians in some way. Boba does seem to be one of the most popular characters of the films despite his small role, and Disney isn't one to miss such a good merchandising opportunity. It would be great if they were fleshed out and treated as more than just faceless warriors, bounty hunters, bad guys, etc. but I'm feeling fairly cynical about the fate of these movie in general. I'm sure they'll be good- just not what I want to see.

 

If they delve into the mandalorian culture it will probably be in the same way as in tCW were we get an idea about their culture through their Picasso like paintings and cubists like architecture

 

I agree with this. It would take an entire movie of it's own just to get people acquainted with the culture, so any references in current movie projects would probably be minor. Although a "Meanwhile on Mandalore..." scene would be pretty awesome.

 

It's nfortunate because Traviss embellished on so little to create something spectacular. But there is only so much that can be put in a movie

 

Outside of the "new" Mandolorians have we seen any mandos in everyday clothes?

 

Jango is in normal clones when we first see him on Kamino during EP2.

So apparently rumor has it that in the Boba Fett spin-off they're going to change his origin by having someone kill the Clone Fett, and take his armor and name, becoming the Boba we know in OT....I'm not sure if I like this rumor...
