Let's consider the locations of JCers around the world. A very large number, perhaps a majority, I am not sure, live in the United States. A large share of them live in the big states like California, Texas, and New York. Another very large share live in the UK, and many of them are in or around London.

David, Dave, Daveeeeeed, as he is variably known, username JoinTheSchwarz, is the only prominent JCer of note, at least that I can recall, from Spain.

Why, he's practically an Islams! :p

So, now that I got Dave feeling all good and isolated (sorry, man), let's begin the interview. I think, by the end, you'll wish just like I do that more JCers could hail from Dave's Iberian peninsula. Maybe some of you might even like to move there.

The Schwarz in your username refers to Spaceballs, right? On the subject of appearances, you've kept that Sebulba icon for a really long time now. Is Sebulba a favorite character of yours, or do you just like the way the icon looks? Have you ever changed it?

When I first started lurking, waaaaay back in 2002, I saw someone posting a screencap of Spaceballs with a "I see your schwarz is as big as mine" caption that really made me laugh (simpler times!). At the same time Wizards of the Coast (or maybe the Official Site? I'm not sure) was running an extremely annoying pop-up with the motto "JOIN THE FORCE!". So, once I finally decided to register, I kind of combined both to poke some fun at that awfully invasive pop-up. Nowadays that reference makes little sense, so I will tell everyone that Schwarz means black in German. I'm just a ****.

About Sebulba, I just wanted to annoy Brian (Sebulba-X).

Die, Brian. Die in a fire.

Well, actually... I think my first icon was Joruus C'Baoth (I started in Lit, after all), but I soon settled into Sebulba. The reason I started using Seb is, well, he was animated and co-created by [link=http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Miguel_A._Fuertes]Miguel Ángel Fuertes[/link], Spanish ILM graphics animator. Before AOTC had sequences filmed in Sevilla, Sebulba was kind of the only claim Spain had in the Star Wars saga. So I chose him as my avatar: I thought it was fitting.

That is very interesting, I never knew that!

Okay, so, started out in Lit... how did you end up in the JCC?

Well, I grew bored of Lit and the prevalecent "everything is canon, even your mother" point of view; from time to time I still lead terrorist raids to make sure the continuity porn acolytes don't feel too powerful in their Wookieepedia-built thrones.

    But I digress.

I eventually found the oh-so-infamous JC Election Game and thought it was a good way to meet people. So I joined some random party (can't even remember the name) and soon found out the cooler people were all part of something called Debocratic Parté. So, once the elections were over (hilariously, I must add), I ventured into JCC to follow this mystery Debo guy and his deltron_zero co-conspirator. They kind of adopted me, probably because I'm irresistible when I start weeping. Just like a puppy, you know, but a puppy that could control its sphincter. Adorable.

For a good time I posted in JCC just to interact with them and the rest of the gang (first JP, then Dani). We made some good threads. Well, they did, I merely posted in them...

And that's the story of how I stopped worrying and became a JCCer.

    Okay, back to Sebulba...

where do you stand on the Prequels?

I think they're mediocre movies. All of them. If they were part of a hypothetical saga called Outer Space Battles I wouldn't give them a second thought. They're like the Matrix sequels: they couldn't live up the hype, right, but that doesn't mean they're not ****.

On the other hand some very talented people worked in them, so it's not like they're the Manos: The Hands of Fate of our generation. I've loved Ewan McGregor since I first saw Shallow Grave, and you have to admit the digital scenery is breathtaking. And that funny noise the seismic charges from AOTC make! BWONNNNNNNNNNNNNG. Love it. A/>

Hey Dave, are you from Spain? Do they speak Spanish in Spain? What's your favorite Spanish word? What's your favorite English word? What's the weather like in Spain? Spain?

    SpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpainSpain?

Oh, that's funny... do people find things funny in Spain?

Holy Frijoles... do they say that in Spain?

Good thing I pasted it into a document on my desktop. I plan on seriously violating the TOS soon. It's been too long.

Also, is it true about the rain in Spain falling mainly on the plain?

Also, whatever happened with that Irish girl? Jeez man, that anecdote had me on the edge of my seat. It was like being fellated to a certain point and then being told "Okay, you can finish yourself off."

    **** tease.

Months after that night I met her, this time in Madrid. We spent a weekend together and then, well, I never saw her again. Life sucks like that.

Dave, after reading your interview I look up to you much more. Plus you hooked up with an Irish Red head. What was sexier, her looks or her accent?

One more question, have you ever been to El Tomatina, the tomato festival?

I'm really rather stoked to now know what the love on a messageboard thing means. I've always looked at that and thought... sure it can, and why is that sig worthy? Are you anti-messageboard lurv?

    So yeah.

That does suck. If I were you I'd high-tail it over to the Emerald Isle and find her. Think about it. If your moment on the breakwater wasn't dramatic enough, you could top it by pulling a stereotypical rom-com move by showing up on her wedding day and objecting. That way she'll realize it's you she was destined to be with and you'll end up living happily ever after...or you'll be slapped with an Irish restraining order and be humiliated.

Either way you've got an advantage that most people don't have: You're Spanish. That's like having a "Don Juan" card. If I were a chick I'd totally go for you.

Give in. Give in to your gift of being so full of swagger that makes you naturally irresistable to women.

wow. I only read part of this [it's getting late and I'm about to turn in so will finish later], but it's of fantastic quality. Highly interesting. So educational [/Golden Boy]. Love the quote inserts- very nice touch.

other thoughts: I find it ironic that due to extenuating circumstances, normandy's name will forever be bigger than everyone else's on the list of interviewees.

    also, I can't believe none of the following: darth_boy, Boba_Fett_2001, Armenian_Jedi, GRAND_MOFF_KEVIN, [femi/suzy]

I'm the only member of the Run TFN/HHA thread to have been interviewed? obviously suzy is never on anymore except lurk, GMK isn't THAT active I don't believe, but no AJ? He's a very interesting person. no bf2k1??? he got a super-cool nickname! and.... no db? that's downright insane. I'd read that interview twice.

Can we get a darth_boy interview/show a little love to my far worthier compatriots of the hip hop thread?

Anyway, I will read the rest later- it seems great!!

I don't think it's inherently jingoistic/wrong to own (and use/display) the flag of the country you call home. Aside from that, a great/interesting interview.

When the national symbols have been used and abused for 40 years by a fascist dictatorship, they get charged with a certainly different meaning and only a certain special kind of people owns and waves them around. I stand by what I said but I don't expect you to get it, as you have no point of reference.
