dinochick - Great job on your costume and the making of page. I've made some updates to my page, but have not posted them yet. I'll let you know when I do because some of my links may change. I'm trying to reorganize my site a little.

Tenyon - Great buckle! Of course...you do very pretty work.

Oh, and FYI to anyone making this, here's another possible fabric: http://www.distinctivefabric.com/fabric.php?product=SUEDE2. Check out the tan.

Hi everyone! I am going to start making this cosutme later today. I am hoping to get it done for an event in 3 weeks. Thank you all for your suggestions and ideas. I am sure they are going to help. I couldn't find any of the patters that others have suggested, but I did find Simplicity 5106, which I think with a few modifications should work out fine. I'll keep you all posted with my progress.

I've finally cleaned my Web site up a bit, so some previous links may be broken. The updated page for this costume is here: http://www.lesawilliams.com/Padme/Sleeveless.htm

I've added some info to the hair section, and maybe in a few other places.

Possible fabrics for this costume: http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-suede-fabric-leather-fabric-butter-suede-fabric.aspx?cm_mmc=Email-_-02/16/06%20just%20arrived-_-Product-Just-Arrived-_-butter%20suede

I don't have either of these, but they look like they would work for anyone looking for fabric.

YAY I am going to do a full size costume, finally!
OK I got a couple questions:

    Here's a couple pictures:
    Simplicity 8589
    http://www.fiercekitten.com/sewing/patterns/s8589.jpg
    Butterick 4201
    http://community.webshots.com/photo/548795179/2317213890036514294CXSJLc
    http://community.webshots.com/photo/548795179/2296227430036514294ZhwmHh

Question is, on Butterick 4201, I can't find a picture of the cover, and thus it probably is very difficult to find that pattern in the first place. But has anyone used S 8589?? On the cover it appears that it has the correct fullness to make the few wrinkles required for this outfit, whereas B 4201 does not appear to have any, from the finished vrs. that lady did. Has anyone used these patterns? Suggestions? I intend on re-designing the top, of course, to make it as close to the origional as possible.

    ALSO

Is there a good (and reletively good priced) place to get Suede like that? And what about boots?

Yes I am just beginning to research this whole thing, and I'm very sorry if the answers to my questions are already in this thread, but I am leaving in a couple days and do not have the time to read through all of this :(

    Thank you all so much!
    Take care and God bless!
    ~N

EDIT I looked on Google and within a few pages found this for boots:
    http://www.newport-news.com/assets/prod_images/prod_3/3f0724a_3.jpg
BUT I can't find the item ANYWHERE on their website! :( At least it appears they HAD the boots at one time.

Hey, those boots don't really match, I got them and their design is great but the color is all wrong. They are more of a rust(read orange brown) than the muddy brown that Padme's are for this costume.

could they be dyed, do you think? I figured they were the wrong color, from the picture. How much were the boots?

They were $30 and I checked into getting them dyed at a shoe shop in the mall and they would have cost another $100 to dye plus I think the zippers would have had to be replaced or painted because they would be the wrong color.

AH ok, thank you! Well the company is sold out of those boots, seemingly, anyhow, so my search continues! :)

Here's the navy top and gauntlets, of course, I didn't do the brooch, or anything else. This was done a few months ago and haven't worked on it since. :p

OK I have ANOTHER question, and I would find out myself but I only have so many sources, AND I'm on the road.
What is generally the price for suede? What is the cheapest price you have seen it at?
More to the point, is 6.30 a yrd. (just under a meter) a good price? YES it is a wide fabric.
anyways there is an opportunity for me to get some suede today, before 11 central time, so if I could get an answer before then i would be MOST grateful

    Thank you!

    Take care and God bless!

That is decently good for a price. If it's anything like how much velvet costs, I'd keep looking personally, or just wait for a sale. ;) :p

    Good luck!

Hey everyone, how did you all make your pregnency pads? I'm trying to work out the pattern for the 'skirt' part of this outfit, but the front is giving me fits because I don't have a stomach like that :D Any ideas? I've got everything done but that.

    Thanks!

Nidrail, I used Simplicity 8589 and it worked fine. It had plenty of fullness. I actually took it in a few inches. I did not add the seams, but I made mine before the movie came out, and I've not done a redo. There is a pattern out there that replicates the seams better, but I'll have to dig to find the number.

Good luck on the boots. I got lucky at a Norstrom's rack. With fall coming, though, you'll see more boots online.

For a pregnancy pad, I made a small pillow out of some tan scraps I had. I hold it in place with maternity underwear.

I got the fabric for this for $4.00 a yard. It was $7.99 and 50% off of that. Fabrics.com and Distinctive Fabrics also sell some good material for this outfit.

Check out my link in the signature for more details. I hope that helps!
