Kay Dee I think you actually captured proof of a lining :) Aside from the way the fabric hugs over the hips (there are stress lines counter to the folds of the draping over the hips) I spotted something in the last photos of the 1st and 3rd rows here that you took:
    http://www.padawansguide.com/cape_exhibit.shtml
At the very far curve towards her back you can see a fold right at the top edge, I suspect that is actually a seam for a facing and lining.
Also looking further down to the top of her thigh there are a few horizontal folds created by an inner layer pushing out. It seems to stop about mini skirt length;)

Also the first photo in the Movie Stills section here shows something interesting (Padme stepping up at the entrance and looking to our right):
    http://www.padawansguide.com/cape_gallery.shtml
Below the ruched section the two side panels are pulled together as if caught by something underneath. This could just be a panel to help stabilise the ruching but combined with the line down the side of the hip that is definitely caused by something underneath It is not a seam or it would show in the peaks of the folds and down to the hem) I do think there is a fitted support used to keep all the drapery in place. It looks quite solid so I'm going to have to rethink what I am going to use for it!

Oh yes and your photos show I have too much fabric in the underpart of my cloak sleeves;) The seams are cut on an angle mine are just the selvages of the semi circle I cut ;)

I found some decent fabric on sale recently and have been wracking my brain trying to figure out the pattern on this. I'm pretty confident in my skirt design, and semi confident in the top, but the hood is baffling me. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to lay properly wrapping over the shoulders and then having that little 'tail' at the point. Any advice, I've searched and can't find where anyone described how they made the hood. It looked like an easy costume until I started disecting the elements of it lol.

I did find some pretty quartz beads on sale for $10 for 160 beads near by at work :) I threaded them with black thread and I like the way it looks over a silver thread. The natural inclusions of the quartz are really pretty too, I just wish they were faceted like the original beads (those were going to cost me $40 for 160!).

I looked at a high res photo and the beads look like Tourmalated Quartz faceted coin beads (similar to the necklace in that link). I saw beads like that, but they wanted $70 for a small strand of 40! I'll settle for my clear quartz smooth beads lol.

I finally have a photo of my dress!
    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v609/glittersweet/costume/starwars/padmebluestore1.jpg]
The dress is *not* that green in real life.

Some of the progress from the past week:

BQ I have a scale pattern of my costume if you'd like it. It is only a few hundred KB in size.

WOW, Great job! This is such a complex costume, but it looks like you've really got it. I'd love to do this one, but I'm not good at analyzing the construction of the layers, etc. It looks awesome~

Looks good as always, Neimhaille! :D I also think the faux wraps are awesome too. :)

And, Polly_Padme, you have got to stop asking other people for patterns. Otherwise, what's the point of sewing if you never learn how to do it yourself. ;) I can guarantee not that many people actually like that. So, just voicing my opinion. ;)

Spacelady,it's a joke))All patterns I drew myself and I made little modicfications if it need))If I ask people about pattern - I don't mean Real pattern)))I mean that I must look at how to at only pics or sketches. If I see how to do that - I can easy make it.That's all.

    Ok,girls!
I'am find good manufacturer in China, which produce many kinds of jersey and crepe fabric. They also produce jersey-crepe fabric, which originally used in movie. So,they ask about real color of fabric from sceen costume and say, that minimum order is 200 meters. What you all think about that, girls?;)

Polly, I think the point of these boards is to share information, not just ask for it. Maybe if you give a little more instead of always asking for things, you will get a better response. With your experience, etc., I'm sure you would actually have a lot to offer the group. Just a thought.

So yesterday after not feeling well, I decided to keep myself busy (as I always seem to do when I'm sick). I dragged out my stash of projects (all separated by bag and labeled). I found my Tatooine light blue dress materials and got started mocking up this costume. I had been dying to make this one for a few years, but after studying photos of fan costumes, the real costume, and the movie stills, I gave up. The hood/cape thing was baffling me. I thought it would be as easy as the skirt to figure out, but that was certainly not the case.

Neimhaille, thank you a million times over the pattern, without it I would have been lost! I printed it out along with your in process photos and finally figured out how that worked. Your to-scale drawing was easy to follow, especially since we are the same build, I didn't have to change anything you did.

My original fabric is just a basic lightweight cotton, it was good for the mock up, but would have been horrible for the actual garment as it has no fluidity to it. It certainly does crease very nicely though lol. Anyway the link to the in process album, and the photos :-D

The following photos are only my progress from last night (yes, I costume fast). Unfortunately I ran out of fabric for the skirt so I can't mock it up. I'm confident that will come out fine though with minimal tweaks.

The front of the top. The 'skirt' is not actually there, it's just fabric I wrapped around for a visual :)

For those that have been able to complete this costume, how did you get the skirt lenght right? On mine it was too short and too tight.
