Thank you for posting the make-up colours. I was actually almost right on with shades I have from some other companies.
I just received my almost completed gown on Tuesday of last week and I love it. I have been lurking on this thread to get tips on making the dress and my seamstress has been working hard to complete it.

Has anyone used the olive green silk velvet from SyFabrics? Is that an acceptable replacement for the out of stock moss green that Denver Fabrics had?

It's darker than the denverfabrics stuff and slightly browner. syfabrics will do swatches for cheap - I'd get a swatch before ordering. It's very nice velvet though. I might just dye my own if I ever do this costume.

Thanks for all the hints and tips here. A friends daughter has asked me to work out how much this would cost for her. She's only 9, so I imagine the amounts of fabric will be less, but I have found some very interesting tips here. Thanky you.

is anyone still searching for the perfect fabric for this since being discontinued from Denver Fabrics???

I found a source in NYC that has it for $9 a yard (I get Tax free advantages) and it looks like they have about 40 yards left. it is the SAME exact material DF had :D if anyone is interested LMK and I'll pick it up for you (at cost plus shipping by UPS) :)

DE let me know when you are ready to make this, they may still have the fabric available :) I don't know what the cost to ship to you would be though.

I'm almost tempted to get some of this for myself, but I can't afford it right now, maybe later :)

I'm making a run for two people today, after I pick it up, I'll see what they have left and report back :) If anyone else wants any, let me know - it is a DEAD ON match for the DF silk velvet.

Eek, my third post in a row, I hate that lol.

Anyway, the place has almost sold out of the velvet. They have a 2yd peice and a 4yd peice, and will not be getting any more in :( I guess I'll have to scout around some more to see if anyone else has it.

I found what might be as close as I am going to get here in Australia! It's the right colour and it's velvet! What makes me even happier was the price! It was 50% off and I got it at $7 a metre   Am I happy? :D So now a pattern...

It was suggested to me that there is a spray that I could apply to the back of the velvet to stiffen it and makeit easier to sew/work with. Is anyone familiar with this technique? I tried a quick google search and didn't come up with anything helpful.

And, as always the fabric is the trick..
(I've tried to read all messages in this tread, but I got a terible headache after 2 pages so I gave up..)
Do any of you know some site/sellers in Europe?? Who sell silk velvet...
Any help would be nice :D

Mostly finished this dress - at least enough to wear it for the DVD release.
Here's a picture of me in it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The only thing I'm missing is the brooch - which is still sitting in pieces on my kitchen table. :p
