Let's just say that it doesn't go like this:

Palpatine- "So we all agree that galactic intrest rates will increase by .2%?"

Senate- *Cheers*

Palpatine- "Good, and.... oh yeah.... by the way... I am now Emporer! Sorry it's on such short notice...."

Palpatine is a sneaky guy and I don't think he will ever actually just say "I'm Emporer". He will just gain power and gain power until everyone just says "Oh well...I guess he's emporer now..."

 

I think he should force lightning some opposing senators to show he means business and get the other ones in line.

 

I always thought it would be cool if clonetroopers stepped into each senator's pod in the senate chamber, forcing them to accept what Palpatine has to say. They should be called Imperial Stormtroopers from that moment on.

Either that or he force-lightnings the whole chamber killing ALL the senators! Then he appoints his own Senate.

I think not.

Once again, Palps will simply manipulate events so that some other, influential senator calls for an Empire led by Palps.

There will be no 'force-zapping' of senators, or Sidious revealing himself for all the galaxy to see!

 

First of all, the Senate isn't disbanded until Episode IV, so that's not going to happen.

As far as him being declared (or assuming) Emporer, we may not see that in this film. If we do see it, I would expect that he will not declare himself Emperor, but rather he would have someone put the motion forward in the Senate that he be named Emperor. Up to this point he has been careful not to openly ask for power, but has had underlings and dupes do this for him. Why would you expect him to suddenly change?
