Palpatine's Mind Tricks

If you listen to the commentary, and watch carefully some of the scenes with Palpatine, it is quite obvious that he's making people say things for him. This is true of the scene with Mas Amedda.

Amedda: "If only... Senator Amidala were here."

Also, they seem to indicate that Palpatine is using Force powers on the Senate when he is given the emergency powers, getting support from anyone he could latch onto.

I think this is completely feesible and creepily diabolical.

Of course, it's Palapatine, he's going to use the Senate to get his way.
