Would we wanna see Ian playing Palpatine for the entire thing? Or have someone else cast for his younger self?

I don't know that Ian could pull off Palpatine as a college student--if he could, I'd like to see Ian the entire time. If not...well, I don't have anyone in mind for younger Palpatine, although it would need to be a redhead. Palpatine had auburn hair in the book IIRC.

I've come around to @Havac 's line of thinking, regarding young Palpatine. Tom Hiddleston could pull it off.

Well, probably not "college aged" Palpatine, but certainly young Senator Palpatine.

Yes Loki is definitely the way to go.

Ian McDermaid will be very old by the time they do get around to such a project, if they ever do.

Im not gonna lie, I was surprised how much younger he seemed in TPM compared to ROTJ. They did a great job.

I get the impression that the author wanted to show that Palpatine was "bad to the bone" a born sociopath , that being said in the conflict between Palps and Cosinga Cosinga was such a deplorable excuse for a father, it really matched up with bad RL fathers I know, that I was routing for Palps all the way through.

Yes I was rooting for the backstabbing, war-mongering,Jedi slaying dictator over his jerk-face of a dad, I still do not approve of Palps killing his mother nad siblings, I guess the book succeeded in getting me emotionally involved.

I agree with Loki as a young Palpatine.

PS: For some reason I can't explain I was expecting the book to introduce a love interest for Palps :p

I just finished re-reading and I have to admit, Palpatine's confessions as he kills Plagueis imply he wasn't manipulated that much. If his words can be trusted.

    His love interest is himself.

McDiarmid was only in his late thirties in ROTJ; he was buried under latex prosthetics. He aged right into the role by time the prequels rolled around.

I'm not familiar with that actor but he definitely looks like he could play a young Palpatine.

As far as a love interest for Palpatine: Palpatine would use multiple women for gratuitous sex, and probably did. He wouldn't fall in love, it's not in his personality.

He reminded me of what Dumbledore said about Voldemort in the Harry Potter series: he never had a real friend and didn't really want one.

LOL I know right? I've been planning to see that one ever since it was in the theater.

I'm on vacation this week so I think it's going to have to happen.

I have seen The Avengers. It has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I recognized that despite the fact that I was quite young at the time. Sean Connery in a kilt playing golf with a globe was cool, though.

That new one with the superheroes and all that crap, never seen it.

As to Palpatine, am I too assume I'll find no support here in organizing a terrorist group of holy warriors intent on wiping Disney off the face of the Earth if they even contemplate a young Palpatine movie?

I don't really live much in the internet.

Most girls I know think he's a skinny effeminate kind of guy.
Personally I can see him as a rich, cool kind of dude. I didn't realize he had so many female fans.
