Palpatine's Plan

    Hey everyone, this is my first post, but ive followed for some time now. I was just watching TPM and noticed for the first time that when Palpatine was first nominated for the position as chancellor he mentioned a "sympathy vote". Has it ever been mentioned that this is the reason why Palpatine (Sidious), with the Trade Federation leaders originally started the war/ invaded on Naboo?
    I was thinking that only through the war on Naboo could the vote for a new chancellor have happened, since the sypathy votes would have gotten Palpatine elected and therefore Palpatines plan for the empire was set into motion.
    This could be old but i was just wondering.. Thanks

    It was his plan to become channcelor. everything that happened(except maul's death)in that movie happened according to his design.
