Best Planet: Coruscant.

(We saw new and lively bits of Coruscant. And last time, Naboo
was more interesting, but this time Naboo had nothing to offer.)

Worst Planet: Geonosis.

(Once more we see big, fierce monsters seemingly native to an
environment devoid of adequate or in this case any food. That's
been done before. Lots. I accept Geonosis was right for the plot.
All it had to do was stay out of the way of a very busy story,
and it did. George Lucas was right. But the planet is still dull.)

Best Extra: The adult clone trooper we see at Kamino.

(He was in character. This was the clone, or any of them. What
more can you ask of an extra?)

Worst Extra: That annoying boy looking at the camera when
Obi-Wan Kenobi goes to visit Yoda about the missing planet.

Best Shot: A clones/droids battle scene.

(I can't identify which one. Never mind: there was a lot of good
stuff on show in the battle scenes. _The Phantom Menace_ can't
compete with _Attack Of The Clones_ in this department.)

Worst Shot: Annakin riding the cow thingie at the picnic.

(This looks dreadful when Annakin is at angles you should see
only in bad video games. Repeat viewing only makes it worse.)

Best Weapon/Gadget: Lightsabers.

(Though I thought the missile reflection capability of lightsabers
should have been played up slightly more, they are still magic.)

Worst Weapon/Gadget: Assassin centipedes.

(These slug/centipedes were big, slow and uninteresting. This
was the time to show us something wild and new, like micro-
droid assassins. If I told you that you could put several kilos of
anything you wanted into the senator's bedroom while she was
sleeping there, and big, sluggish centipedes was the best you
could come up with, I would flunk you from assassin school.)

Best Costume: Padme's wedding dress.

(There were a lot of good costumes in _Attack Of The Cones_.)

Worst Costume: Padme's ugly gold head-dress thing.

(Gay-LenKenobi posted a picture of it. And it is not beautiful.)

Best Set: Dex's Diner.

(_Attack Of The Clones_ didn't have a lot of sets that mattered.
They looked great, but that was all. (And it's enough, but for
the best set of the movie I'm looking for more). Dex's diner was
a place real people hung out. Ewan McGregor brought that place
to life.)

Worst Set: Count Dooku's getaway ship's cave.

(It was dull, and it really had no function except to get dark so
we couldn't see that the actors couldn't fight well enough for a
duel like _The Phantom Menace_ gave us.)

Character You Wanted to See Die: Count Dooku.

(When Dooku took time off from fighting Yoda to do Force stuff
to threaten Annakin and Obi-Wan Kenobi, I thought: "You
haven't got time to do that, my friend." I expected and wanted
to see him die then. When Yoda let him get away with it, and
then Dooku walked (instead of killing Yoda, which he could
have then), I thought "Oh, crude plot device!" My suspension of
disbelief was blown.)

Character You Wish Hadn't Died: Shmi.

(This was such a cliched, lame, unworthy, death. The character
was intrinsically important, and should have had a big send-off.
The actress, with next to no lines, had made the character real
to me in _The Phantom Menace_. I really didn't want to see this
stupid death. But first it was telegraphed, and then it happened
right on cue. Sigh.)

By the way: where are people getting all these names for minor
characters? Many of them aren't named in the movie. I've seen
it repeatedly. Is there a list somewhere?

Best Planet: Coruscant. Tall skyscrapers, millions of lights, culturally saturated. It's New York and Las Vegas rolled into one and scaled way way up. It's been featured in the EU in how many stories? And in one film we saw more of it than we did in the entire EU combined

Worst Planet: Can't think of one. The all had their individual 'charms'

Best Extra: Kit Fitso. A lot of people hate him, but I thought the character showed a suprising amount of charm for such a small role. All in a quick smile. Then later he's wacking away laser bolts. Fun guy

Worst Extra: The Jedi who tossed Obi-Wan and Anakin lightsabers. He looked greasy enough to have come out of Dex's deep fryer.

Best Shot: Best single shot would be Yoda getting his saber. The look in his eyes and the choral accompanyment really sold the ensuing battle for what it was. It's an instant Star Wars classic moment. The master had enough of the petty games and was gonna take his youngling back to school

Worst Shot: The shot of Mace after they landed in the assembly area and he's charging off. He pauses, and motions the clones to follow. Shot looked really fake.

Best Weapon/Gadget: Dooku's saber. The design was really cool. [Forest Gump]That's all I have to say 'bout that.[/Forest Gump]

Worst Weapon/Gadget: Clieg's hoverchair. nothing wrong with it. Just can't think of anything else.

Best Costume: Anakin's main costume. The one with the black vest. It's my favorite Star Wars costume of all really.

Worst Costume: Corde's. Her hair made her look just plain rediculous when she was dying!

Best Set: Nightclub. Lot's of detail when into it and it had a really cool feeling to it.

Worst Set: Arena. Wan't it just a circle of dirt? That's all it had to be, yes, but still. Not much to it

Character You Wanted to See Die: Banking Clan guy.

BCG: The banking clan, will sign you treaty!

DOOKU: No you won't! *stab die*

Character You Wish Hadn't Died: Jango Boba in ESB/RotJ just doesn't quite make up for him.

 

This doesn't count, but I missed out on the original thread like this.

I just wanted to say that the BEST SCENE in my opinion is Anakin on Tatooine, going to the speeder and telling Padme "I won't be long." Then kick in the DOTF music as he races across the Jundland Wastes. I get chills every time.

 

Best Planet: Coruscant; like Blade Runner but even better. All of the Coruscant scenes were great.

Worst Planet: none

Best Extra: The Twilek Jedi; reminds me of the Twilek dancers in ROTJ.

Worst Extra: The consprator to the right of Dooku that may have been a Bothan; if this was a Bothan, then he should not have been in shadow. I did not like not being clear about who this character was since the bothans play a role in revealing the Death Star in ROTJ.

Best Shot: The shot when Obi Wan gives Taun We that shocked look when she says "we've been expecting you". McGregor was great in that shot.

Worst Shot: Anakin begins to fall off the Shaak; Bad FX in that shot.

Best Weapon/Gadget: Yoda's lghtsaber

Worst Weapon/Gadget: none

Best Costume: Anakin's jedi robes; Reminds me of Vader in the OT and Luke in ROTJ.

Worst Costume: Queen Jamilla's; She looked like she was dressed for a funeral.

Best Set: Palpatine's office

Worst Set: Transport interior; this is the set with Anakin and Padme going to Naboo. The set looked cheesy.

Character You Wanted to See Die: Nute Gunray; I did not care for him in either TPM or AOTC, yet he will be back for Episode III.

Character You Wish Hadn't Died: Bariss Offee; I think she was in the arena but she was not among the survivors. This was a bummer since I read about her in The Aproaching Storm.

That's right -- I know a partial list of presenters for Part II of the AOTC Awards! I'm so tempted to rattle off a couple of the names... but why spoil a surprise?

The real reason I'm writing this is to see if people would be interested in seeing a third installment of the AOTC Awards. Weigh in with your input... this isn't a "strictly voting" thread; talk is encouraged. So tell me if you think a third one would be fun, iffy, or just plain overkill. Yes, admittedly, some of the categories would be strange... like "Worst Alien Species" and "Funniest Moment", but this has always been about the fun of the awards presentation itself (for me at least), not how hard-hitting and definitive the results are.

So in addition to asking you to place your votes in the said categories, tell me if you enjoy reading these enough to see a third installment. If you don't want your opinion in the forum, feel free to PM.

jeff, she's the heavier-set Twi'lek in the nightclub scene. The camera stays on her for just a tad extra as she checks out Anakin walking past.

Music is a category that people have wanted from the beginning. It's a tough call. I don't know the names of the music tracks that well, but I suppose some would. I guess you could always leave it blank if you wanted, but some would inevitably say "the music that comes up when Such and Such are dueling" or something similar to that. And frankly, I would have no clue what specific piece of music they were talking about. I suppose if a SW music expert wanted to help out...
