"Patience, my Blue Friend"

Our world has a vast history of racism. Therefore, it would feel rather odd for us to call someone "my brown friend", "my pinkish friend" or something like that, because it would be generally regarded as offensive. If the situation wasn't what it is, though, I don't think anyone would mind.
I guess they don't have much racism in the GFFA. At least not until the Empire.

You're right, but it's always interesting to analyze stuff like this in Star Wars. Especially since this kind of stuff usually don't compare to anything in real life

Anyway, erm, this is about Obi-Wan, right? I don't think we're frankly supposed to be discussing about racism or anything. But to put in my two cents on this, I think Qui-Gon's only saying, "my blue friend" to Watto because it seems to him that Watto's feeling blue. Understand me?

Back to Obi. A NEW question: How different is the Obi-Wan in TPM from the Obi-Wan in ANH?
