San Diego, CA Patlabor trailer

The live action version of Patlabor is coming soon and the teaser has been released.


They've been talking about doing a live action Patlabor for years now but finaly the CGI has reached the level to do it. I loved the original anime and since Mamoru Oshi is directing I have high hopes for it.

Now for the long wait till april.

 

Oshii is directing live-action now? O_O

A update on who will be directing the new patlabor project. Oshii is still "chief director", director and writer for the project but four more directors have been brought in to handle individual episodes.

So it's going along the line of the anime with multiple directors which is fine with me as long a Oshii is still handling general vision of the show.

Full trailer for episode 1 is up.

Although it's hard to tell from just a trailer it looks to be remaining true to it's origins and keeping the sense of humor and the aspects of daily life that made the anime so good.

And having Shigeru Chiba play maintenance crew chief Shigeo Shiba is to cool ( he voiced him in the anime ).


I getting giddy in anticipation.
