    Hey everyone,

    I'm looking at firewire cards for my PC, and there is one question that I have. Many of the cards I have seen so far say they capture in .avi. Well, I hate avi with vengence, and if at all possible I want to capture and edit in .mov.

    Are there any cards for windows that capture footage in .mov? Can avi cards be altered to capture in .mov?

    Thanks for your time

    MOV isn't a Windows format, it's a Macintosh format that just happens to be compatible across the board.

    To answer your question, I don't think the card you're searching for exists. There's no difference in the least between editing an AVI file and editing a MOV file, they work the same way within editing apps. The only time it makes a difference is in when you're viewing the finished film. If you want them in MOV that badly, just convert them over once the footage is captured.

    i've just looked at the capture settings in premier and i've got 3 options
    1:quicktime capture
    2:dv/ieee1394 capture
    3:video for windows
    thats using a pinnacle capture card.
    so if you have premier i would assume it's down to software
    hope that helps :)

    <BUMP>

    I got a different question. I want a capture card that can has both DV and RCA inputs. It is imperative that the card have its own sound input (routing my film's audio through the sound card is a killer). At the moment I have RCA, so it needs to be good at converting, but I also plan to switch some time, so I need something that handles DV as well. I reckon I can go up to $200.
