Hey guys and gals, there's a peace rally (actually two peace rallies) this Saturday. I'm covering one for a story and participating. Anybody interested in coming?

One of them starts from Highfield Square and marches up to City Hall.

And the other starts from U de M and leads up to City Hall.

I was thinking we could meet up at the one at Highfield Square.

And after the rally we could go to Tim's or something...

Both rallies start at around 11:00 a.m. and end around noon.

I'd love to go, but my director is worse than anyone Bush is worried about, and I have rehearsal.

Be there in spirit go. Can't we all just be nice to each other?

One of the guys that spoke at the rally used to be a doctor in Bosnia. He saw a lot of "human casualties" of war...

I certainly would do it again. There's a vigil or something at Victoria Park tonight at 7. The same thing will be done all over the world at 7. I think it's like a gathering or something.

I wish I had a camera with me yesterday.

Way to go, everyone who went to the rally!

Bush says diplomacy has one more day. Weapons inspectors are leaving Iraq. The German government is closing their embassy there and encouraging all German citizens to leave the country immediately. US forces in Kuwait are being told to get messages out to family before Tuesday.

Looks like war is imminent, and Saddam is still defiant. He has something up his sleeve. A friend of mine thinks he plans to wait until American forces converge on Baghdad, then detonate a nuclear bomb. I think chemical or biological weapons are far more likely.

    I have a small-related story...

Our YJN chapter traveled to Syracuse NY to take part in the St. Patrick?s Day Parade on Saturday.

In the parade, right behind us was a man who was dressed as women. The dress he had on was made out of duct tape and he was holding a sign that read, "Duct tape for fashion instead of war. Cross dressers of America".

Before the parade even started the parade marshals mad him remove any the anti-war statement from his sign.

SO MUCH FOR FREEDOM OF OPINION. And they can America the land of the free?

Soon after the parade started, the marshal came back to totally remove him from the parade. They told him it was a family event and his cross-dressing was not appropriate.

I guess they also didn't notice the fact that there were 10,000 people in the streets with open alcoholic drinks...but it was a family event.

Personally, I hope the guy was a lawyer.

You hear about the guy kicked out of a mall for wearing a shirt saying "Peace on Earth"? And he had even had it made at that mall.

I heard about that one last night too.
He bought the shirt in the mall!!!!!

It comes down to: You can have an opinion, as long as it's for the war.

It is very sad everyone. I fear that many innocent people on both sides of the conflict are going to die as well as some serious environmental damage is going to be done in the coming days and weeks.

The Times and Transcript (Moncton's newspaper) sensationized some of the details of Saturday's peace rally saying there was about 1,000 people there. I was there and there couldn't have been more than 300 people.

The media likes to sensationalize everywhere, especially FOX News. That drivel is just sensationalized propaganda.

Der Führer will be addressing the nation at 7 ET. Let's see what excuse he gives this time for the necessity of imminent conflict.

    I can hear it now...

Announcer: Those assembled, arise and stand to greet the arrival of the American Führer.

    //applause

Announcer: The applause greets the Führer who has just arrived at the Capital building to address the Reichstag. We are expecting that Reichsmarshall Pöwell in a very few moments will open formally the session in the Reichstag.

Bush: Iraq's oil is and was an American possession. This region has only America to thank for their cultural development. I told the Iraqi ambassador 3 weeks ago that if the situation continued as it was, if the Iraqi oil was blocked and it was attempted by Iraq to ruin America economically, the situation could not be tolerated. I therefore resolved to speak to Iraq in the same language in which Iraq has addressed us for such a long time. Iraq for the first time this evening has shot at regular soldiers in Kuwait. From now on, bomb will be met by bomb.

(based on Adolf Hitler's speech to the Reichstag addressing the invasion of Poland, Sept 1, 1939)
